Arsenal’s summer transfer window was notorious for being uneventful beyond the signing of goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea. Today, however that lack of transfer action looks more intelligent as the Gunners are the current consensus Premier League title favorites.
They’re just three points behind Leicester City for the top of the table.
Arsene Wenger said yesterday that the Gunners transfer activity is now over for the window. However, he also has confirmed that he will complete a £3m double deal for Nigerian teenagers Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze before Monday’s transfer window.
The pair had their photographs taken with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger at the club’s HQ on Friday, alongside former Arsenal forward Nwankwo Kanu and and CEO Ivan Gazidis.
Manchester City, Tottenham and Liverpool had also shown interest.
The duo join Egypt international Mohamed Elneny as the only signings made by Arsenal during this month’s transfer window. Go here for a scouting report on Elneny.
For really interesting story on Elneny, check this out- he actually used to sleep with a ball every night.
