Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is having some problems with his immune system, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed. The German star has been ruled out of the Gunners’ UEFA Europa League clash against Ostersunds, as the poor guy was bedridden on Monday and Tuesday.
Over the weekend he was training with the club, before getting sick early on this week. Wenger was asked why his star keeps getting gets sick so much, to which he responded: “Ozil’s immune system is a bit in trouble at the moment and I don’t know why. I hope we can improve that medically.”
Over the past year or so, Ozil has been sick four times. The good news is that situation doesn’t appear to be too serious, or at least not as serious as it sounds. Mesut Ozil should be ready by Sunday’s EFL Cup championship clash versus Manchester City at Wembley Stadium.
“He should be OK for Sunday,” Wenger added.
Tonight’s match was one where Ozil would have likely been rested anyway, as the north London side is already up 3-0 from the first leg. In 28 competitions for club and country in 2017-18, Mesut Ozil has five goals and eight assists. No matter what side you support, you got to be pulling for Mr. Ozil, as your immune system is something not to be taken lightly. Get well soon Mesut Ozil.
