It looks like long time Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could be back on the touchline in the new year. The Frenchman, who stepped down after 22 years as Gunners boss in May, hasn’t tipped his hand to where he could be going yet, but he believes that he’ll be back in the game come January 1.
Last week, we saw reports that Paris Saint-Germain wanted Wenger to come on board as a transfer expert, but it appears the 68-year-old had plenty of other and probably better options.
“Yes, it looks like it,” Wenger said in German publication Bild when asked if he still plans to manage again.
“I believe that [I’ll] start again on Jan. 1. I don’t know yet [where I’m headed]. I am rested, and I am ready to work again.”
“There are associations, national teams; it could be also [in] Japan. Thanks to my 22 years at Arsenal, I have big experience on different levels. There are enquiries from all over the world.”
It sounds like Wenger’s agent has been busy fielding lots of offers, but the Frenchman is still a ways from deciding right now. It’s interesting that Wenger mentioned the idea of managing a national side, because there probably won’t be a whole lot of openings in that department come January, other than Mexico and the United States.
In the same interview, Wenger ruled out the idea of joining Bayern Munich, and backed the current incumbent.
