Due to a groin injury, Arsenal FC will be without forward Danny Welbeck for at least three weeks, manager Arsene Wenger confirmed in a news conference today. That means Welbeck will miss tomorrow night’s third round League Cup clash at home against Doncaster, Premier League fixtures at the Emirates against West Bromwich Albion (Monday night) and Brighton & Hove Albion (Oct 1), and their UEFA Europa League group stage away tie at BATE Borisov.

“Danny has a scan today, we don’t know how bad his groin injury is but he will certainly be out until the international break,” Wenger said.

With two weeks off for the October international break, the time table for return, at the earliest, is nearly a month from now.

The English international is also likely to miss World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Lithuania.

Danny Welbeck could make his return Oct 14 in league play, when the Gunners visit Watford. The former Manchester United man has three goals and two assists in nine appearances across all competitions for the north London side.

Welbeck suffered the injury in the goalless draw at Stamford Bridge against arch-rival Chelsea on Sunday.
