Arsenal Supporters Trust Poll Shows 88% Want Arsene Wenger Out

It’s almost impossible to get 88% of people to agree on something. If you said “good afternoon,” you probably wouldn’t get nearly 90% of respondents to agree that this afternoon is in fact “good.” However, it is in fact the number approving of #WengerOut according to the Arsenal Supporters Trust survey.

The AST conducted a poll ahead of their annual general meeting yesterday, asking members whether Arsene Wenger should be allowed to see out the final year of his contract next season. Only five percent believe he should. Last season, when the AST conducted the poll, 78% of respondents wanted Arsene Wenger gone.

So it’s a 10% increase in just one year. The last time the Frenchman spoke about his future, he said he fully intends to see out the duration of his current contract. Despite the fact that #WengerOut momentum has been very strong for some time, and appears to be strengthening further, it seems clear that Wenger will not voluntarily step down.

He will have to be forced out, and we’ll see how the club board now responds to the results of this poll, if they respond at all. It’s been a disastrous season for Arsene Wenger and company, as the Gunners have little to no hope of finishing in the Premier League top four.
