It was announced earlier today by the France Football Federation that Manchester United striker Anthony Martial was replaced by Arsenal hit man Alexandre Lacazette. Martial had to pull out of the team, for the upcoming internationals due to an adductor issue.
Then, just a couple hours later, we learned that Lacazette also had to withdraw the team, so you can also scratch him from the upcoming matches against Netherlands and Uruguay, due to medical reasons.
A statement, posted via Twitter read: “This decision was taken after an exchange between Dr. Franck Le Gall and his counterparts at Arsenal.”
Lacazette was replaced on the team by Borussia Monchengladbach forward Alassane Plea. His pulling out from the World Champions team this international break means it’ll be now over a year since he made an appearance for Les Bleus. He last featured in a friendly against Germany in November of 2017.
In other France roster news, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba also withdrew due to a thigh injury, replaced by Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko. Pogba made an Instagram posting easing the fears of fans. He posted a photo of himself walking and smiling, and therefore showing the world that he is in fact alright.
