It’s January, the transfer window is open, and today is a very active and busy day so let’s jump right in with some Arsenal FC transfer talk. Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas wants out from situation at the Bernabeu, and honestly who could blame him? If he does get an escape hatch this winter window it won’t lead to north London however.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery has deemed the reports claiming a deal had been struck to acquire Navas as fake news.
“Not true,” the Gunners boss responded when asked about the Navas reports.
“We never speak about one goalkeeper because we are very happy with the three goalkeepers we have now. We never speak about Keylor Navas.”
He was also quizzed on the Aaron Ramsey situation. Thursday brought conflicting reports about a potential sale to Juventus. “I don’t know,” Emery answered when asked whether he knew if Ramsey has been in talks with Juve.
“I want his focus every day with us on training and thinking for the next match. I am looking at him and he’s very concentrated with us now. On Tuesday, he scored when he played 15 minutes, and he gave a good performance.
“I want that from him, and also he needs to [look] at his future. But I want him in the present with us.”
“At the end of the season is the moment he can go to one team or another team.”
Finally, Arsenal must address their back line this January, if they are to have any sort of realistic hopes of a top four finish. They’re currently dealing with an injury crisis at defender, and that position group was their weakest link to begin with.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal are looking to find that help in 27-year-old Torino center-back Nicolas N’Koulou. NBC Sports has more on N’Koulou, the Gunners wish to acquire him and the Serie A side’s ambitions to keep him over at this link.
