Arsenal have finally done something this summer transfer window, announcing their first major signing today- midfielder Dani Ceballos, who arrives on loan from Real Madrid. Ceballos, 22, was stellar for the Spanish U21 side as they won the European Championships this summer.

Ceballos, who will wear the No. 8 shirt, made 23 La Liga appearances (where scored three goals) and three Champions League appearances for Real Madrid last season.

Gunners supporters hope that the Dani Ceballos loan acquisition is just the start of things to come this transfer window. Arsenal FC have also been extensively linked with ASSE’s William Saliba, Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.

In the race to acquire Dani Ceballos, they beat out their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

“We’re excited to see Dani join us,” reads a club statement attributed to Arsenal boss Unai Emery. “He is a talented player with big technical ability, creativity and precision.”

Here is his official welcome tweet, as well as the video to his first interview as a member of the club.

According to the club statement: “The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.”

Arsenal are currently competing in the International Champions Cup, a series of high profile friendlies (at least as high profile as preseason exhibitions can be), involving big name clubs, being staged all across the world.

The Gunners are currently topping the table of the competition.
