Arsenal FC Acquiring Pair of Defenders: David Luiz, Kieran Tierney

Happy summer transfer window deadline day everybody! Arsenal are one of the teams to watch as this deadline day comes to an end, as they are extremely busy here in the 11th hour. The north London side didn’t get any action going until mid to late transfer window this summer, and they didn’t address their biggest need, the back line, until the tail end of the transfer business period.

They are reportedly currently finalizing deals for two defenders, hoping to get them over the line in time.

According to Goal’s Arsenal correspondent, we’re just simply awaiting club confirmation, on Chelsea central defender David Luiz and Celtic left back Kieran Tierney.

The Luiz deal is worth £8 million according to the BBC, as the Brazilian makes a shocking deadline day move for the second time in four years. His 2016 transfer from Paris Saint-Germain back to Chelsea, a deal worth £30 million, certainly came out of the blue as well.

As for Tierney, there has been transfer gossip about him all summer long, so it’s interesting how it took until the last minute to get something done that had obviously been discussed for a very long time. According to The Guardian, the deal is worth £25 million.

Better late than never for the Gunners, who were proactive in trying to fix their biggest weakness.

You have to consider them one of the biggest winners in this summer transfer window.
