Unai Emery is getting out of Alexandre Lacazette this season what Arsene Wenger could not during last term. The Frenchman is certainly living up to his lofty transfer fee now after failing to do so initially. The Lacazette partnership with another high priced forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, is paying off huge dividends for both players.
Right now, it’s hard to imagine the idea of the two being a competitors for playing time, instead of cooperative for the north London side’s success. The Gunners head into the international break in fourth place, with 18 points and a tie-breaker advantage over arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
So far this season…

They are just two points behind the three teams that sit atop the table: Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool. Alex Iwobi is correct when he says this team is a league title contender currently. Having begun the season with losses to the first two of the three aforementioned teams, the Gunners have won six in a row in Premier League play and nine consecutive across all competitions. Their 5-1 demolishing of Fulham today was extremely impressive on multiple levels.
And right now numerous Arsenal related search terms, such as Lacazette and Aubameyang, are blowing up all over social media right now.

“When we lost the first two matches against Manchester City and Chelsea, we were calm, and when we are winning now, I think we need to be in the same way in our mentality,” said Emery after today’s one-sided win.
“We are going up in the table little by little giving us a better position for our objective, but I am just thinking about the next match against Leicester at the Emirates, in our home, with our supporters. I want to give them and to show them we are improving with our quality, with our mentality and above all with commitment we had here today.”
Obviously, Emery is saying all the right things by maintaining a more measured, grounded outlook on the current winning streak.
Getting back to that social media buzz, here is a collection of some of the more interesting tweets we saw about Lacazette, Aubameyang and company:
