Ohio State football is celebrating its 6th national title and the first since 2002 today. If you’re a Big Ten fan who hates the Buckeyes (and no one is judging/blaming you for doing so) you have to admit how cool this is for the Big Ten. It’s literally the real life college football version of Lou Brown, the Cleveland Indians Manager in Major League telling his team:
“Every publication in the country has picked you to finish dead last. Now I’m on for wasting sportswriters time, so let’s all give them one big shitburger to eat.”
All year long the media said how much Big Ten football sucks at life. Ohio State itself was underdogs to Wisconsin in the league title game, Alabama in the Sugar Bowl and Oregon in the title game. Yet here they are. Since we brought up Ohio leaders in the world of sport, Woody Hayes is Ohio State football and OSU football is Woody Hayes. The Buckeyes football offices are literally located on Woody Hayes Drive.
So enjoy this old grainy footage we dug up. It’s Hayes discussing pot smokers on the Columbus campus, and how they might distract his team from achieving their utmost. The reaction of the Buckeyes players when they hear their coach discussing recreational drug use is priceless.
