Top Notre Dame quarterback target Kyle Allen @KyleAllen_10 just tweeted that he will be playing his college football for the Texas A&M Aggies.
And he did, at least partially, in ALL CAPS!!!! LETTING YOU KNOW THAT HE’S EXCITED:
“I will be playing my college football for Coach Sumlin at TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY!” Allen tweeted around 3 pm CDT June 3rd. Obviously, A&M is rather set at the QB position with Johnny Manziel, the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy in college football history. However, Manziel is eligible to declare for the NFL Draft after this season, so maybe he’ll leave schooland the SEC early?
As you can see from the pics below, Manziel is obviously having a lot of fun in Aggieland.
As for Notre Dame and their QB situation, for now we say “hey, thanks for coming!” to Everett Golson. Brian Kelly has Tommy Rees and Andrew Hendrix to work with in the quarterback situation. And now, blue chip prospect Malik Zaire enters the mix.
Consensus #1 quarterback recruit Gunner Kiel committed to Notre Dame, but he left school to transfer to Cincinnati.
Hendrix provides a dual threat for the Irish; and Rees has a lot of experience. Not all of it is good, as Rees is known to create a lot of turnovers. Rees also has the feel and look of a 8-5 team QB1. The Notre Dame QB situation kind of returned to where it was 2010-11 this past weekend; a step down from the Notre Dame QB situation in 2012.
Rees will probably be QB1, Hendrix QB2 and Zaire QB3 come autumn camp.
So what can the Notre Dame QB candidate do to distinguish himself from the others this June and July?
“As is indicated from years past, I’m sure these guys will be highly motivated to go out there and throw and do all things necessary to develop their skills,” Kelly said.
