So Mack Brown is resigning his post at Texas. We know that. Now we hear that Nick Saban will be his successor. Then we hear that Nick Saban is staying at Alabama. And then after that we here Nick Saban is undecided. So it’s all speculation at this point. No one really knows. We do know that Saban’s contract extension has been sitting on his desk unsigned his Friday.
And that Crimson Tide higher ups are feeling rather uneasy about it.
In March, Nick Saban received a raise and contract extension through 2020 worth $5.62 million a year and said that signing this deal represented his intention to finish his college football career in Tuscaloosa.
A.J. McCarron, with who Nick Saban obviously has a very close bond with, winning a couple national titles with him, appeared on SportsCenter on Thursday morning and the topic came up.
“I don’t think Miss Terry would allow him,” McCarron said of Saban’s wife. “Miss Terry is happy there and I always joke with coach about Miss Terry runs the house. But coach loves it there and I don’t see coach trying to go to another program and built it all back up. He did that at Alabama, first at LSU, now at Alabama. I think coach is happy where he’s at.”
McCarron also said he asked Nick Saban about these rumors “a while back.”
“He told me he wasn’t going anywhere and the man’s never lied to me in the five years I’ve been there. Like I’ve always said, he’s like a second dad to me. I don’t see why he would leave and why he’d lie to me.”
