Crimson Tide tailbacks sure can run with that there football. The next heir apparent rusher will be down for a little while however.
From Mark Ingram to Trent Richardson to Eddie Lacy to Derrick Henry. The very recent tradition of superlative Alabama running backs continues with the kid who broke the all time high school rushing record.
Unfortunately, Derrick Henry was injured during Saturday’s Crimson Tide scrimmage and will miss the remainder of spring practice; as well as this Saturday’s A-Day “Game.”
“Derrick Henry suffered a fractured fibula in Saturday’s scrimmage and had successful surgery this morning with Dr. Lyle Cain,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said in a statement.
“With the support of our medical staff and the hard work and dedication Derrick has shown since he arrived, we are confident that he will make a full recovery for the start of camp this fall.”
So Henry is only missing the spring, and the Saturday intra-squad dealie. He’ll be back by the fall to play real Crimson Tide college football. Derrick Henry enrolled early in January. He set the national high school rushing record at Yulee High School and was the Maxwell Football Club’s National High School Player of the Year.
The Crimson Tide A-Day “Game” is Saturday at 2 p.m. (CDT) inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. It’s free to attend and will be shown on ESPN2.
