The Field of 65 (TSB’s Bracketology)

Welcome to the Field of 65; The Sports Bank’s version of bracketology.  Every Friday, I mix and match the pieces to try and predict what the NCAA Tournament will look like.  If you are wondering if I accidentally left North Carolina out of my latest brackets, let me tell you I did not.  At 12-7 and on a three-game skid, the Heels are in serious trouble if they do not turn things around quickly.  The defending champs could be NIT bound.

  1. Illini not even a bubble team? I would have to agree…it’s 11-7 in conf or better if they’re going to make the tourney.

on the bright side NO UNC!!!! Take that Tyler…I know Hansbrough is gone, but Zeller can suck it.

Brian, where are you my man?? Your Shockers are represented!

  2. Right now at 7 losses overall, Illini are out… UNC also has 7 losses but have played much tougher competition…

    Brian… where r u?

  3. Yes!!!! Go Shox!!!!!!! How good is BYU?? Haha!!!! Just wondering. What’s BYU’s record?? What good teams has BYU beaten. Curious. Wanna see
what kind of team the Shox are playing.

  4. Yeah!!! UNI should go down atleast one seed. Awesome!!!

  5. WSU won’t go in KU’s bracket, though. WSU should be on Nova. Atleast
give em a chance to go to the Final 4.

  6. paulmbanks says

Brian be sure to check out Monday’s College Hoops 101- you got a big shout out there

  7. Brian where they play all comes down to location… it’s easier to send WSU to Spokane and send Charleston to Jacksonville then the opposite… the committee takes travel into serious consideration…

  8. True.

  9. Thats true.

  10. Go Shox!!!

  11. Ughh…. You put them in, then they lose by 14 at Drake. They play
awesome vs good teams and play awful vs awful teams.

  12. Hello???

  13. I am the official Shox curse!!!

  14. Of course. But WSU beat 3rd place Ill St. by over 5. Good, I think.

  15. Larry Knetzer says

UConn a 10 Seed – How many wins on the road do they have?
Notre Dame a 12 Seed – let me get my barf bag.
Minnesota a 11 Seed – Affirmative Action does not belong in Sports.
Northwestern – It’s a sports contest not an academic contest.
Virginia – a 10 seed now who have they played?
Cincinnati – a 9 seed not after tonight!!!

  16. paulmbanks says

Larry- before Dave gets here to refute your comments, let me do my own response to your opinions

UConn- this edition is from 2 fridays ago, we’ve published a newer one since then, and a new one will go up tomorrow

Minnesota- Mr. Limbaugh, why don’t you save comments like that for white supremacist message boards. Because believe me sir, remarks such as that have NO PLACE on TSB

Northwestern- Here’s why they’ll make it in http://thesportsbank.wpengine.com/category/cats-cradle/

Notre Dame- I agree. but they’ll be gone in the new one after the loss to rutgers

VA- they play in the ACC they have signature wins on the sched for the taking if they can win

    Cincy-see above re: uconn

  17. I think that Larry guy was right as I take a look back at the past year’s tournment. Let’s take a look:

UConn a 10 Seed – Finished the season with 1 win and 4 losses over the last five games of the season and did not make the big dance? Doesn’t sound like a #10 seed to me. Larry was right!!!

Notre Dame – Finished the season with two loses and the last one to a non-BCS team. Doesn’t sound like a #12 seed to me. Larry was right!!!

Minnesota – Finished the season with two loses and the last one to a non-BCS team. Doesn’t sound like a #11 seed to me. Also nothing to do with being racist IMO, they just didn’t deserve the invite to the big dance, Larry was right.

Northwestern – didn’t make the big dance and lost in the NIT to a non-BCS team in the first round. Doesn’t sound like a #9 seed to me. Larry was right!!!

Virginia – didn’t even make post season play. Doesn’t sound like a #10 seed to me. Larry was right!!!

Cincinnati – didn’t make the big dance and lost in the NIT to a non-BCS team. Doesn’t sound like a #9 seed to me. Larry was right!!!

  18. paulmbanks says

Well before we deem Larry the all-seeing, all-knowing sage…let’s remember that this was a BRACKET PROJECTION in January given the body of work that had already transpired…and to bring it up now in retrospect, well it’s easy to be a Monday morning QB.

    But otherwise, good for Larry.
