FIFA’s The Best awards will take place Sept. 23 in Milan, and there is a very high probability that a prominent winner (or two) will have Liverpool FC ties. The Best short list was announced on Wednesday, and Liverpool landed three of the final ten on the player of the year award short list.

Reds manager Jurgen Klopp also made the cut for his category, and the plaudits just goes to show how much winning Champions League truly means. Liverpool are the only club in the world with four individuals to make the two lists, while Ajax and The Netherlands each had three.

Mauricio Pochettino Rants About Lack of Input in Spurs Transfer Activity

mauricio pochettino

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino isn’t going anywhere right now, but one has to wonder how long he’ll stay put in north London long term. Pochettino has previously hit out at the club’s very underwhelming transfer business trend, but never quite like this.

The Argentine has said publicly, on at least a couple occasions that he might have left the club had Spurs won the UEFA Champions League tournament. If Poch continues receiving little to no support from his board, in terms of player recruitment and roster reinforcement, then maybe his days with the club will be numbered.

Tottenham Defender Kieran Trippier to Undergo Atletico Madrid Medical

kieran trippier

The deal that will send Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid developed rather rapidly, with almost all of the news relating to it coming out in the past 24 hours or so. We often talk about long, protracted tedious transfer sagas, but this narrative is certainly the polar opposite.

Trippier, according to various sources, including The Guardian and The Telegraph, will fly out to Madrid to undergo his medical ahead of a £20 million (plus add-ons) deal. The full back had a breakout 2018 World Cup with England, but wasn’t able to transfer that success with country over to club.

Tottenham Announce Five Year Extensions for Ben Davies, Harry Winks

Tottenham Hotspur got the preseason training camp started in style, as day one brought some major news- the club announcing contract extensions for Harry Winks and Ben Davies at the same time.

The current European runners-up have done a fantastic job in recent years of locking down their core nucleus and key pieces to long term deals, and this is yet another such example as both players are now inked until 2024. Davies, who has been in and out of the first team at the left back position, joined Tottenham from Swansea City five years ago and has featured 168 times for Spurs.
