Jose Mourinho Takes Swipe at United Over Bruno Fernandes Transfer Saga

Jose Mourinho may have lost his first and only game against Manchester United since the club sacked him, but he did land a pretty hard jab against his most recent former club. On one hand, now is not the time for the Portugese to be throwing shade at Old Trafford, given how Tottenham, his current side, are still looking up to them in the standings, albeit on tie-breaker.

On the other hand, the United transfer saga with Sporting CP star Bruno Fernandes has become laughably protracted, and annoyingly tedious. The failure of the two sides to finally get this deal done is easy fodder for criticism.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction at Watford FC

Tottenham Hotspur have made their first addition of the January transfer window, with the announcement and unveiling of midfielder Gedson Fernandes earlier today. He will probably feature on Saturday, when Spurs visit Watford in the first game of the next Premier League weekend.

Don’t expect him to start however. Spurs’ visit to Watford is sneaky tough. Not only is momentum going against them, but their opponent now has an unforeseen advantage when it comes to rest and relaxation.

Tottenham Hotspur at Watford FC Team News, Match Preview

The wheels have really come off for Tottenham Hotspur as of late. The Jose Mourinho bump has dissipated, and they currently sit in eighth place, nine points out of the top four. And one should not expect anything to drastically improve any time soon, given how they’re still dealing with a quintet of long term injuries to star players.

That list again, in no particular order: Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris, Ben Davies, Tanguy Ndombele, Moussa Sissoko. Hey, at least they beat Middlesbrough last night in the FA Cup third round replay, and are moving on in that competition. Up next for Spurs is a trip to Watford FC where they will take on a suddenly surging Hornets side.

Tottenham Team News, Starting XI Prediction vs Middlesbrough

Tottenham Hotspur are set for a FA Cup third round replay as they managed just a 1-1 draw last week at the Riverside Stadium against Middlesbrough. The Jose Mourinho bump has definitely worn off now as Spurs are winless in their last four across all competitions.

While this match, ideally, would provide the perfect time for Mourinho to rotate his squad, perhaps that won’t happen. For one, he badly needs a result and the FA Cup competition provides the best opportunity for Mourinho and Spurs to get a trophy this season.

Tottenham MF Moussa Sissoko Undergoes Knee Surgery, Out Three Months

For any chef, he/she is limited by the supply and quality of the ingredients available. Tottenham Hotspur got an initial surge when they first hired Jose Mourinho as manager, but that bump seems to have leveled off now. A big reason for that is the mounting injury list at the north London club.

Now you can add midfielder Moussa Sissoko to the list, as the France international will be out the next three months after having undergone surgery to repair knee ligament damage. Sissoko suffered the injury in the loss to  Southampton, and missed out on the FA Cup draw at Middlesbrough.
