Danny Rose Gets Brutally Honest About His Future at Tottenham Hotspur

danny rose

It doesn’t always work to his advantage, but you have to give Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose this- he certainly does not hold back. He’s often notably quotable in what he has to say to the media, and it’s extremely refreshing for reporters and fans.

Rose has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane for some time, and no doubt you’ll see him in the gossip pages once the next silly season arrives in January. Or maybe not, as Rose just pre-emptively blew up all the winter window transfer rumors.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs Sheffield United

When selecting his first team tomorrow at home against Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino faces a couple interesting decisions. Now that summer signing Giovani Lo Celso has registered his first goal in a Spurs shirt this week, does that now warrant his first start in Premier League competition?

How about Son, who left the pitch last weekend in tears and his head in his hands, should be out there now that he’s available again, having his red card revoked? Does Eric Dier get in the team? Juan Foyth or Serge Aurier?

Tottenham Hotspur Team News vs Sheffield United: Son, Vertonghen, Lamela

If only Tottenham Hotspur could translate their recent success in Europe against Red Star Belgrade over to their domestic campaign. Since the embarrassing 7-2 shellacking at the hands of Bayern Munich in UEFA Champions League group stage play, Spurs have won both of their UCL matches, both of which were against Red Star, 9-0 on aggregate.

At home though, in league play, Spurs are winless (2L2D) with a 3-7 goal aggregate differential since that beating at the hands of Bayern. Up next is a home clash against surprising Sheffield United, a team that is performing much better than your typical newly promoted side.

Tottenham Team News, Starting XI Prediction at Red Star Belgrade: Kane, Vertonghen, Son

It was about a fortnight ago that Tottenham Hotspur absolutely rolled Red Star Belgrade, 5-0 in Champions League group stage play. Now comes the reverse fixture, in Serbia, which sees Spurs sitting second in the group B standings, one point ahead of third place Red Star.

This is a critical match, in terms of who advances to the knockout round, to say the least. That’s why it’s absolutely critical that Tottenham talisman and centre forward Harry Kane get right in time for this clash. Kane is battling a virus that keeps his status in doubt for this one.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction at Everton FC

Tottenham Hotspur at Everton tomorrow could have been this Premier League weekend’s headliner fixture. All the pieces were in place for that, back in the preseason, after both teams spent big in the summer transfer window. However, it’s turned out to be wasteful spending as both sides are enduring rough seasons defined by underachievement.

After 10 games, you have 11th place Tottenham visiting 16th place Everton. The visitors have been a top three fixture as of late while the hosts were expecting to be in the race for European qualification, at least on some level.

There is plenty of blame to go around at Tottenham Hotspur this season, as a high number of players have under-achieved. Attacking midfielder Dele Alli certainly falls into this category, as the young Englishman was once regarded to be Spurs’ second most valuable player behind Harry Kane.

However, chronic hamstring problems have stunted his growth and development, and when fit he’s not producing. Ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League fixture at Everton, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino defended his talented, but slumping player.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction at Liverpool FC

Liverpool FC host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in a renewal of a series that has been dominated by the Reds. In the history of this fixture, the Anfield outfit has 83 wins to Spurs’ 48; with 42 previous meetings ending in stalemate. Liverpool will come into the match especially motivated, having just dropped their first points of the season, against their hated rivals Manchester United, no less.

Tottenham’s road form has been brutal lately, so most people are expecting this match to end in Liverpool’s fourth straight win in this series. It appears that this Tottenham side, in its current incarnation, has peaked and some roster revamp is badly needed.

Liverpool FC Starting XI Prediction vs Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool is involved in the big Sunday headliner of the Premier League weekend, but the big news on this day doesn’t involve the clash at Anfield against Tottenham Hotspur. No, it’s about the business side of things, off the pitch, as today brought a major development in the court case surrounding the club’s partnership with sportswear manufacturer and kit partner New Balance.

With this legal hurdle now cleared, LFC can progress on their new and potentially record-breaking kit deal with Nike. That said, let’s look forward to the match on Sunday, a rematch of last year’s UCL final, and who Jurgen Klopp might select in his first team.

Tottenham Hotspur at Liverpool FC Team News: Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Lloris

The Sunday headliner of this Premier League weekend is a rematch of last year’s UEFA Champions League final, as Tottenham Hotspur visit Liverpool FC. As you obviously remember, the Reds took that one in Madrid, and they’re heavily favored to win this one too.

Both sides enter this match having routed European opposition in midweek, and those big blowout victories were needed too as both teams got off to a slow start in UCL play. In terms of the league however, these two sides are having diametrically opposed seasons so far.

Tottenham Hotspur Starting XI Prediction vs Red Star Belgrade

These are extremely trying times at Tottenham Hotspur and it likely won’t get any better when they take on Liverpool this weekend. Before that comes a UCL mid-week group stage clash against Red Star Belgrade.

It’s a must win for Spurs as Saturday’s 1-1 draw with winless Watford means they now have just one win in their last seven across all competition. Since the opening day of the season, Spurs have just two wins in 11 games. They are heavily favored to win at home on Tuesday night as they will take on a very overmatched side, but if they don’t, an early exit from the UCL is in the cards.

UEFA Champions League Group B match day 3 of 6 will be upon us tomorrow, with Tottenham Hotspur looking to get a result that would flip the script of their group stage efforts thus far. They currently sit third in the group, having acquired just one point and a -5 goal overall differential. Last time out in this competition it was historically bad! They lost 7-2 to Bayern Munich, in a match that was even uglier than that sounds.

They’ll host second place Red Star Belgrade, who have three points and a -1 goal differential. Last year’s UCL runners-up are in danger of not advancing beyond the group stages, but a win here would change the outlook entirely.

There are a lot of reasons why Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino may have lost the dressing room, if indeed he has, but one is certainly well outside his jurisdiction. Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy refused to sanction the summer exit of the Spurs players who are under-performing and/or want out.

This stubbornness by the big boss has led to the dire straights that we currently see the team in. Last time out, in the shocking upset loss at Brighton, it really looked like Poch had lost the squad. Going up against the team that’s dead last in the league on Saturday, maybe things will be different. Let’s take a look at what lineup the Argentine may select.
