Arsenal FC at Crystal Palace Team News, Starting XI Predictions

It’s a sneaky good London derby this weekend as sixth place Crystal Palace heads to fifth place Arsenal on Sunday in a match that has positioning for European football next season on the line. Much has been made of the Gunners struggles, and that negative publicity is surely justified, but they have been pretty fierce at home.

Scorer supreme Alexandre Lacazette is back from injury, having just played 70 minutes last time out. You can expect him to get a first team call in this one. One guy you won’t see in the first team is the side’s highest paid player, Mesut Ozil, who has been frozen out and manager Unai Emery refuses to explain why.

Arsenal FC Starting XI Prediction vs Vitoria Guimaraes (UEL)

Given who played and who did not play in Arsenal’s Premier League loss at Sheffield United on Monday night, you can probably count on four players being in the first team against Vitoria SC tomorrow night. Likely to be in the starting XI Thursday, for the UEFA Europa League group stage contest are Kieran Tierney, Dani Ceballos, Rob Holding and Lucas Torreira.

You can probably bet on Mesut Ozil being left out again, because well, it’s just how Arsenal manager Unai Emery rolls. Although that storyline has certainly grown tiresome, it still does leave us wondering.

Arsenal FC Team News vs Vitoria de Guimaraes (UEL): Nelson, Ozil

reiss nelson

Arsenal FC will host Vitoria de Guimaraes tomorrow in a UEFA Europa League group stage clash that should end up very lopsided. It’s a battle of the two teams at opposite ends of the Group F table, and the bottom side/visitors could be without the services of as many as nine regulars!

For Vitoria Guimaraes, or Vitoria SC, they might have to go with a very conservative line-up, and play some of the kids. For Arsenal, who have a very healthy squad right now, it’s chance to rotate the squad. Of course, the question remains- what is going on with Mesut Ozil?

Granit Xhaka Hits Back at Patrice Evra, Goes on Expletive Laden Tirade

Granit Xhaka, Arsenal football club team captain, has hit back at Manchester United club legend and Sky Sports television pundit Patrice Evra, who made headlines for slamming Arsenal as a whole yesterday, and specifically the notion of Xhaka wearing the captain’s armband.

Xhaka returned fire today, spraying all the team’s critics in general, but also taking aim at Evra specifically. And the results were, in part, NSFW.

Arsenal FC Starting XI Prediction at Sheffield United

Despite all their ups and downs, strengths and weaknesses, Arsenal FC currently sit third in the Premier League table and haven’t suffered defeat in their last five. That said, their next match at Sheffield United could be more challenging than many might believe.

The Blades sit 15th in the table, but that really doesn’t do justice to how they have looked so far this season. These two clubs have met six times previously in Premier League competition, with three of those matches ending in stalemate.

Arsenal FC at Sheffield United Team News: Lacazette, Nelson, Fleck, McBurnie

The final Premier League fixture of the weekend sees Arsenal FC head to Bramall Lane for a Monday night clash at newly promoted Sheffield United. Perhaps the most impressive Sheffield showing this season was their 1-0 loss to Liverpool. While there is no such thing as a “moral victory,” they certainly pushed the table toppers to the brink of dropping points as anybody else has this season.

With that in mind, Arsenal will certainly be on their guard and won’t take this fixture lightly. Let’s take a look at the team news for this one, starting with the visitors.

Chelsea Star Mason Mount Named to Golden Boy Award Short List

Italian media outlet Tuttosport hand out the Golden Boy Award every season, and today brought the release of the nominee short list. To qualify for the award, a footballer must be U21 and play in one of Europe’s top tier leagues.

One fifth of the list, which is 20 names long, is comprised by English Premier Leaguers, with Arsenal, Everton and Manchester City and Chelsea represented. The Blues representative is one of the most intriguing, because it’s a player who was with a Championship level side last season- Mason Mount. Frank Lampard brought the budding superstar with the Vanilla Ice style hairdo up to Stamford Bridge with him, and he’s been in a revelation in west London.

Arsenal FC Team News, Starting XI Prediction vs Bournemouth

Arsenal gave a 4-0 thrashing of Belgian side Standard Liege yesterday, and all the talk was about teenager Gabriel Martinelli, who scored Arsenal’s first two goals just 131 seconds apart. It was the second time Martinelli bagged a brace in his past three matches, as he also scored twice in Arsenal’s 5-0 rout over Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup last month.

He’s yet to feature in a league fixture, and if he keeps producing like this, Arsenal manager Unai Emery will have no choice but to give him a chance. The timing is certainly right, as forward Alexandre Lacazette continues rehabbing from an ankle injury.

pierre-emerick aubameyang

Who wants some public beef as we enter the final weekend of play before the second international break? Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and the leadership of his former employer, Borussia Dortmund, are in the midst of a hostile, public back-and-forth.

Arsenal signed the Gabon international from Dortmund for a then club record fee (it has since been broken twice) of £56 million in January 2018. According to Spotrac, he signed a 4-year £32,760,000 contract with the Arsenal, including an annual average salary of £8,190,000.

Unai Emery Says Kieran Tierney Will Play in UEL Clash Tomorrow

Full back Kieran Tierney was linked to Arsenal all summer long, but didn’t make the transfer from Celtic to Arsenal until the 11th hour of the window. Due to injury, the 22-year-old didn’t make his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt until last week’s rout of Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.

In other words, there has been a lot of anticipation and build-up preceding the left-back’s arrival on the pitch. He’ll see some time again in a cup competition, when Standard Liege visits the Emirates Stadium to battle Arsenal in Europa League action tomorrow.
