Mikel Arteta Labels Arsenal Visit to Chelsea a Must Win Game

We have seen signs of progress at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta, but they have been few and far between. Think of it like a garden, where the first signs of growth are small green shoots. The Gunners are currently mid-table and have a long ways to go if they are to solidly get back into Europe next season.

By Europe, we mean UEFA Europa League competition, because qualifying for Champions League is a far-fetched pipe dream at best. Up next is a visit to Chelsea on Wednesday night, a London derby that headlines the Premier League mid-week slate of action.

Chelsea FC Starting XI Prediction vs Arsenal

Chelsea head into a midweek London derby looking to ramp up the scoring. The Blues really need to find some goals, somewhere, as they have failed to put it in net during all three of their recent Premier League defeats.

The problem is present at Stamford Bridge too, as the west London club have scored just five times in their last five league matches. Let’s take a look at what kind of team manager Frank Lampard could go with as he tries to augment the score sheet and beat arch-rival Arsenal.

Arsenal Starting XI Prediction at Chelsea FC

Arsenal FC  have drawn four of their first six games under new manager Mikel Arteta, but hey, it’s a lot better than losing! Things seems to be improving, a little bit, but the Gunners have still won just twice in their last 15 Premier League games. For a club with this tremendous size and glorious history- it’s totally unacceptable.

Arsenal supporters are deservedly upset by having to see their club relegated to the Europa League competition three seasons in a row, but now things could get even worse. Sitting mid-table, now well past the half-way point of the season, they have some work to do just to even get back to the UEL.

Arsenal at Chelsea FC Team News: Aubameyang, Pulisic, Kolasinac

chelsea arsenal

Chelsea FC hosts Arsenal on Tuesday night in a London derby that features two sides trying to get back to winning ways. It was a disappointing weekend for both sides as the Gunners managed just a draw against newly promoted (although they certainly have not played like a side with that designation this season) Sheffield United.

The Blues fell 1-0 to mid-table Newcastle United and in the process diminished the space for other top four contenders to catch them (if any can rise up and take it though). In looking ahead to the midweek clash, Arsenal will be without one of their main weapons, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is serving the second of his three match suspension.

The Mikel Arteta rebuild at Arsenal is starting to show signs of progress, subtle and slowly, but it’s getting there. Up next is a home clash against Sheffield United that poses a major challenge, especially up top. The Gunners will be without one of the their primary weapons, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is suspended for the next three matches.

They will also be without their quarter of long term injury absentees: Sead Kolasinac, Hector Bellerin, Kieran Tierney and Callum Chambers. Additionally, midfielder Lucas Torreira is a doubt, as he might not be match fit in time. Tenth place Arsenal is a team with some holes, and sixth place Sheffield is a side that can expose those weaknesses.

Arsenal FC Starting XI Prediction at Crystal Palace

When Arsenal made their managerial hire, in Mikel Arteta, they brought in a club man who really knows the history and culture of the North London club. In terms of trying to do a long term rebuild, but making sure that it gets done the right way, he was the perfect choice.

However, it’s going to take a long time to get things right again, and there will be plenty of rough times ahead in the meantime. Up next is a London derby against Crystal Palace, with the Gunners looking up at the Eagles in the table for a change.

Arsenal at Crystal Palace Team News: Bellerin, Tierney, Zaha, Meyer

In looking at the top six of the Premier League table, you’ll see it’s pretty much the traditional big six, just with one exception: Arsenal is missing. After all that chaos which started the season, the table has pretty much settled to where one would expect it to be.

The big money clubs are up at the top, except for Leicester City inhabiting second place and Arsenal way down in 10th. The Gunners will travel to Crystal Palace tomorrow, for a London derby against a club that started the season pretty hot, but then fell down to mid-table. Still, the Eagles are one position ahead of Arsenal heading into this clash.

Arsenal FC Starting XI Prediction vs Leeds United (FA Cup 3rd Round)

Will Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta due some squad rotation tomorrow night when his side hosts Leeds United in a FA Cup third round clash? Most likely, as the team’s priorities this season lay in other competitions.

Still, this is the tournament where the Gunners shine, as they have won it more so than any other side. Thus, we should expect them to bring their A game, regardless of who is on the pitch.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Optimistic About January Transfer Window Additions

The January transfer window is now here and we shall see if Manchester United make some additions. Currently in fifth place, the time and space is right to beef up the roster and make that push for the top four. Of course, it remains to be seen who Old Trafford might go after, with top target Erling Haaland having gone to Borussia Dortmund instead.

Despite United having the inside track, due to manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s connections to the Norwegian youngster, the club was reportedly not very keen on what the wonder kid’s agent, Mino Railo, was asking. Another top MUFC target, Mario Mandzukic, elected to sign with Qatar Stars League club Al-Duhail instead. Maybe United wasn’t really that interested instead.
