Ex Chelsea Boss Explains How Antonio Conte Can Avoid the Sack

antonio conte

Despite the fact that Chelsea ran away with the Premier League title last season, the first of the Antonio Conte era, the Blues boss is still very much on the hot seat. Conte’s side has now fallen to fifth place in the league table, one slot out of the top four. They have long out of the league title race for a very long time.

The job security of Antonio Conte has been a major talking point all season long, not just because of the results, but also many of the things he’s said in news conferences. Chelsea Owner Roman Abramovich is notorious for his itchy trigger finger regarding the fate of his managers, and Antonio Conte has made plenty of public remarks that sound like tempting fate.

Old Trafford Upgrade Could be Delayed in Order to Fund Summer Transfer Spending Spree

Manchester United have designs on upgrading the size and seating of Old Trafford from 75,000 to 88,000 capacity. United are hoping to add and expand corporate hospitality seating (because isn’t that rule #1 of all stadium renovations and expansions- increase the corporate hospitality suites?) but they may delay those plans in order to address a more pressing need first.

The United front office wants to make sure manager Jose Mourinho has all the sufficient funding he needs to improve the squad in the summer transfer market. Basically, it’s get a much needed upgrade in central defense and holding midfielder now (take care of the short term), beef up Old Trafford (long term concerns) later.

#9 North Carolina Tar Heels Upset by Miami Hurricanes: Greatest Regular Season Game Ever?

To paraphrase His Airness Michael Jordan, the ceiling was truly the roof. The #9 North Carolina Tar Heels hosted the unranked Miami Hurricanes on Senior Day (which this year also fell on James Worthy’s birthday), and the result was as wild and as memorable as one you could imagine.

It was the final home game for a quartet of seniors who have already won a national title, and three Final Four weekend games. It’s a group with one final March Madness run coming up, and the outcome last night was very reminiscent of the 2016 national title game.

Scott McTominay Cracks Premier League Individual Power Rankings

In mid-December, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho hailed midfielder Scott McTominay as no longer being “young Scott” anymore.

The upgrade in status came after the 21-year-old’s performance in United’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth. All the drama surrounding Paul Pogba these past few weeks opened up a spot for McTominay, and the youngster made the most of it. United’s first outing in the knockout round of this season’s UEFA Champions League was blah to say the least, but McTominay’s performance was certainly elite, as Mourinho hailed his individual outing as “fantastic” and “brilliant.”

Ryan Giggs Outlines What Would Define Progress for United this Season

ryan giggs

It obviously appears that Manchester United are progressing in year two of the Jose Mourinho era, but it’s still a long season yet. The longest tenured former player in club history, Ryan Giggs, has defined what would constitute another step forward for the club.

Last season Mourinho became the first United manager in club history to claim a trophy in his first season at Old Trafford. He actually won three- EFL Cup, Community Shield and Europa League. However, United’s first Red Devils teams only finished sixth in the Premier League table.

Man United Supporters Offering Ideas to Improve Old Trafford Atmosphere

The Manchester United Supporters Trust are offering some suggestions about what could possibly be done to improve the atmosphere at Old Trafford. Following United’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town A.F.C. United manager Jose Mourinho labeled the stadium as “quiet.”

Since arriving at United in May of 2016, Mourinho has sometimes been at odds with the supporters. The Portugese will make comments in news conferences, and sometimes the Manchester United Supporters Trust will respond by issuing public statements. Obviously, both are on the same page ultimately, so they need to work together towards achieving their common goal- making the atmosphere as exciting as possible for those in red at the Theatre of Dreams, and a tough place to play for the visitors.

Robert Lewandowski Focused on Bayern Amid United, Real, Chelsea Links

robert lewandowski

With Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski now changing agents, speculation that he could be on the move is now ramping up exponentially. Whenever a star player goes a different direction in their representation, transfer rumors fly and it all becomes a roll of the dice, like at a Plush Casino. You just don’t know where the wheel of fortune will take you before it stops.

His new agent, Pini Zahavi, is tight with Chelsea owner and Russian billionaire oligarch/Vladimir Putin BFF Roman Abramovich. Thus, it’s thought that Stamford Bridge have the inside track now to acquire the scoring sensation. However, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are all also said to be monitoring/keen on the Polish national team hero.

Chris Smalling Says Second Place Finish a Bare Minimum for Man United

chris smalling

Manchester United central defender Chris Smalling maintains that a second place finish should be the bare minimum for his side, who are currently in the midst of a heated battle for the top four. Liverpool forward Sadio Mane made a similar statement of ambition, as he believes his Reds can finish runners-up to champions-in-waiting Manchester City.

Second place United are currently two points ahead of third place Liverpool, who are two points ahead of fourth place Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea are two points behind them in fifth.

United Striker Romelu Lukaku Thinks He Deserves More Respect

Yesterday, Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal against a top eight side in the Premier League this season. The big Belgian got another scoring strike, his 13th of the season, during the first half of his team’s 2-1 home win over Chelsea. It’s the fifth year in a row that Lukaku has scored double figure goals in Premier League action.

Upon scoring on Sunday, the narrative across the football world was pretty consistent- Lukaku finally scored in a big game/against a big club. Lukaku has obviously heard this often repeated criticism, and he naturally rejects it.

Chelsea Leading Race to Acquire Robert Lewandowski, Reports Claim

robert lewandowski

Bayern Munich Striker Robert Lewandowski is being linked with a London Premier League big six club again, but this time it’s on the west side of town, not the north.

The high scoring Polish international had been linked with a move to Arsenal this past summer, as a potential Alexis Sanchez replacement, but it never came close to actually materializing, and thus the Sanchez sale to Manchester City that had been in discussion collapsed.
