Ashley Young is one of three Manchester United players to crack the NBC Sports Premier League individual player power rankings for this week. The list is 20 deep, and Young is joined by teammates Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba. The very versatile Young doesn’t often make lists such as these, but he grabbed the final spot here.

Pogba, a regular to individual player power rankings, is #12 while Martial is #14. Manchester City lead the way with four representatives, while Liverpool, Leicester City and Arsenal each have a pair in the group.

Unfortunately, one of the biggest stars in this match, Gunners leading scorer Alexandre Lacazette, is ruled out with a groin injury. On the other sideline, United’s arguably best player this season, holding midfielder Nemanja Matic, is most likely not going to play either.

We’ll know more about Matic’s muscular injury tomorrow, and perhaps United Manager Jose Mourinho will fill us in on how long the Serbian maestro could be out during his weekly news conference.

Predicted Manchester United Starting XI vs Arsenal FC

man united third kit

Manchester United could be without as many as three of their top central midfielders for their huge clash at Arsenal on Saturday. United Manager Jose Mourinho switched to a three-man midfield in the 4-2 victory at Watford on Tuesday night, with Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard advancing ahead of the team’s anchor, Nemanja Matic, who left injured in the 54′.

Mourinho went with a 3-5-2 formation, that saw Lingard in the central role, instead of in his usual role out on the wing.

However, it does not seem like Mourinho will have the healthy bodies available to go with a three man midfield this weekend.

Mesut Ozil Has Regained His Fight Says Arsene Wenger

mesut ozil

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has definitely had a tumultuous season thus far. First we saw a few club legends rip the team, as the Gunners got off to a slow start, and Ozil post a response on Facebook. This inspired a blowback.

With Ozil set to see his contract expire in June, the German has been the subject of many transfer rumors, including links to both Barcelona and Manchester United. However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said this week that both Ozil and Alexis Sanchez won’t be sold in the January transfer window. This is a sharp contrast from what he had said previously- that both players were on the market.

david beckham

Given how many footballers are incredibly overpaid, sometimes we don’t think about how much they plough through their money and see their fortunes disappear faster than Chris Coleman’s tenure with Wales. Naturally, as the career of a footballer declines, the options are to either go into managing or start investing. But many footballers and their associates have made some real messes as far as investments are concerned, so let’s have a look at some of the big ones.

nemanja matic

Midfielder Nemanja Matic has probably been Manchester United’s best player this season. You can make a case for a couple other guys, but most pundits will agree that the Serbian acquired from Chelsea in August has been the MVP.

Erik Lamela Returns, Discusses “worst of time of his life” Away from Game

erik lamela

While last night saw Tottenham Hotspur pretty much eliminated from the Premier League title chase, there is a still a true feel good story to report. Spurs winger Erik Lamela made a substitute appearance in the 2-1 loss to Leicester City, and this was his first game in exactly 400 days.

Lamela missed 13 months of action due to hip injuries that required two operations, and the long lay-off had him fearing that he may never play the game again. He also described his time away from the pitch as “probably the worst time of my life.” The 25-year-old Argentine certainly did not hold anything back, opening up about his struggle and the long road back in interviews with the media.
