Danny Drinkwater Completes Last Minute £35m Move to Chelsea

danny drinkwater

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater was the both the buzzer beater and the booster shot that Chelsea FC’s summer transfer window needed. It was a very up and down window, featuring plenty of misses on their top targets, but overall the end result was okay.

Deadline day, and the couple days that preceded it brought a lot of bad news to Stamford Bridge, but when you look at the final tally on paper, it’s not too bad. Drinkwater joins N’Golo Kante as the second key player from Leicester’s 2015-16 championship midfield to join Chelsea.

Tottenham Add Fernando Llorente, Beat Chelsea to Swans Striker

fernando llorente

Chelsea Football Club’s up and down summer transfer window seems to be barreling towards a disastrous finish. This week saw a bunch of bad news for the Blues, as Tottenham Hotspur beat Chelsea to Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente. Just yesterday, Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte believed that he was about to reunite with his former player at Juventus.

It’s another disappointment, in a week which has seen many. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain went back on his agreement to join Chelsea, and opted to move to Liverpool instead. Everton defender Ross Barkley changed his mind at the last minute, during his testing at Chelsea, opting to stay put it in Merseyside instead.

Ross Barkley Backs Out of Chelsea FC Move During Examination

While the Chelsea FC summer transfer window was a bit of mixed bag heading into deadline week, the final 48 hours are looking disastrous right now. The past couple of days have seen:

Arsenal FC Transfer Deadline Day Talk: Alexis Sanchez, Thomas Lemar

alexis sanchez

Happy summer transfer window deadline day. Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez is certainly one of the most primary “players to watch” today, if not THE player to keep an eye on. Manchester City reportedly kept up the effort to sign the Chilean superstar today, but because of some transfer window domino theory, it looks like it’s not going to happen.

It’s been well documented that some Gunners players want Sanchez out of the Emirates, but it looks like that’s not going to happen after all.

Chelsea FC Acquire Defender Davide Zappacosta from Torino

chelsea fc

Happy summer transfer window deadline day everybody. While we await the outcome of the Fernando Llorente situation (apparently Tottenham are now interested in acquiring the Swansea City striker as well), Chelsea FC closed a deal to acquire a new defender, and he’s one who’s worked Chelsea’s manager before.

Torino and Italy right-back Davide Zappacosta is on his way to west London, according to multiple outlets today.

Serge Aurier Pledges a Fresh Start with Tottenham Hotspur

serge aurier

About three hours ago, Tottenham Hotspur officially announced the arrival of new right back Serge Aurier from Paris Saint-Germain. Aurier comes over on a five year deal which will keep him at the club until 2022. The transfer fee was reported to be about £23 million, which seems downright thrifty in an extremely inflated transfer market such as this.

PSG might have been lucky to even get that much though when you consider all the baggage that Aurier brings with him. He’s had a lot of off-the-pitch issues with one particular incident standing out from the rest.

Liverpool FC Unveil £40m Signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool FC have officially unveiled Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain today as their fourth signing of the summer transfer window. The Ox comes over for £40 million, which is a very steep price to pay for a guy that was only a part time first teamer. In fact, the fee would have been a club record, had Anfield not signed Naby Keita earlier this week.

Earlier in the week, we saw reports that the Ox reached an agreement to join Chelsea, but he obviously turned that down, wanting to head to LFC instead.

Ohio State Football: Billy Price Tells it Like it is on Recruiting

billy price

Ohio State football star Billy Price was a refreshing oasis of candor within a brutal dessert of horrifying tedium at B1G Media Day. College football talking season gets more corporatized and dumbed further down every summer, so when someone like Price comes along, it’s glorious. The OG was the highlight of Media Day, and you don’t need to be a Buckeyes fan to enjoy this audio snippet from his session embedded below.

Price opens by discussing how and why football players are crazy before getting into what was changed in the world of recruiting now. Price tells it exactly like it is, about how the amount of hype that accompanies recruits these days gives players an inflated sense of talent, ability and self-worth.

Sir Alex Disappointed by Philippe Coutinho Transfer Saga

Sir Alex Ferguson, just like most of us who have been paying attention, has a negative opinion of the protracted Philippe Coutinho transfer saga. The good news is that it’s over, one way or another, whether he stays at Liverpool or moves to Barcelona, by tomorrow when the La Liga deadline closes. Sad that it has become this tedious and unresolved, but it’s only a matter of hours now until we reach closure.

Ferguson expressed his disappointment while speaking at the UEFA Elite Coaches Forum in Nyon, Switzerland today.

Liverpool FC Strike £40m Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Deal

You know all those stories you saw on Monday about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain reaching an agreement to move to Chelsea? Well you can strikethrough, you know the cross out line, on Chelsea and insert Liverpool in instead. The 24-year-old Arsenal midfielder nixed the Stamford Bridge move, because he prefers a transfer to Anfield instead.

According to the BBC that’s exactly what’s going to happen now, as a £40 million deal has now been struck.

Chelsea FC Could Close Fernando Llorente Deal Today

fernando llorente

It’s only 29 hours until the closure of the summer transfer window, so Chelsea FC will have to most fast in order to get their last minute deals done. The primary name today is Fernando Llorente, and Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is reportedly confident that he’ll acquire the Swans forward for half the price that he originally expected.

Tomi Lahren Fails Upwards, Officially Joins FOX News Channel

Since her dismissal from Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze (it is one word, not two for some reason) network, Tomi Lahren has obviously been going out of her way to move away from her alt-right reputation. Lahren has obviously been trying to rebrand herself as a far right pundit, somewhat closer to the mainstream discussion, instead of extremist ideology with which she is currently synonymous.

As expected, she now joins FOX News Channel, which is a natural fit for her worldview, which often syncs up with the platforms and beliefs of white nationalists.
