Man United’s goalless streak by the numbers

No matter which numbers you cite, it all adds up to lots of drab and dull football for Manchester United.

The third goal less draw this week came today as Man United managed only a 0-0 result at Crystal Palace today. Across all competitions that’s 270 minutes of regulation play without scoring. Add in all the extra time sessions and it’s now 325 minutes without a goal.

Chelsestriker Diego Costa took the proverbial “kick ’em when they’re down” to the literal level today, and he may face Football Association sanctions because of it. Costa kicked Martin Skrtel, Liverpool’s best Defender in the chest while Skrtel lay down on the pitch.

Van Gaal has funny take on Scholes’ critique of club (video)

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal gave his weekly press conference today, and he was his usual, entertaining self. We say “usual” loosely, as the last few press sessions were relatively dull, especially by Van Gaal standards. Today however, was a lot of fun to watch.

Di Maria admits he never wanted to join MUFC

It’s not exactly news that Angel Di Maria didn’t adjust well to life at Manchester United, or living in England in general.

We’ve also known for awhile that Di Maria didn’t gel with United Manager Louis van Gaal. On transfer deadline day, Di Maria publicly blasted Van Gaal, and blamed his philosophy for why he didn’t flourish at Old Trafford.

Di Maria was sold to Paris Saint Germain in August, and now that he’s with PSG, he’s letting out everything that he had to keep bottled in while he was with the Red Devils.

Penn St. football preview: week 9 vs Illini

christian hackenberg 2016 nfl mock draft penn state football

The absence of Tim Beckman this year means that Penn St. football fans will have to find some new machine to rage against when they host Illinois this week. Don’t worry, there’s always grist for the mill (but not Zack Mills) somewhere, even though college football’s answer to Elder Cunningham in “The Book of Mormon” is no longer around to incite incendiary rage within PSU supporters.

This series has seen an exciting back and forth between the two teams in the past half decade or so. We’ll see on Halloween if the trend continues.

FA investigating laser pointer shone at Wayne Rooney

After Sunday’s exceedingly dull Manchester Derby, frustration with Wayne Rooney reached an all time high. United supporters wonder what can be done about him. No one believes however that he deserves to have a laser pointer directed at his face while he’s attempting a penalty kick.

That’s what actually occurred last night in the League Cup elimination loss. Today, the Football Association is beginning an investigation into the incident.

Joakim Noah’s future in Chicago is very murky

Happy NBA tip-off everybody! Welcome to another season of “the Chicago Bulls will challenge Lebron James for Eastern Conference supremacy.” I’ve heard that line more than “I really don’t do this with guys when I first meet them,” and I’m way too cynical a Generation Xer to believe either one.

Keep telling yourself these things, maybe they will one day become true! Perhaps you don’t usually you those things with a man on a first date, but we do know exactly what happens when Joakim Noah and the Chicago Bulls have a date with Lebron James in the NBA Playoffs.
