MUFC ownership selling 8m shares of Man United stock, making £87m

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United’s American owners, the Glazer family, are set to raise about £87m by selling eight million shares in the club on the New York Stock Exchange. The club won’t receive any of the money raised from the new share sale,  a statement says. All money raised from the class A Man United stock will go to controlling owners.

PHOTOS: Manchester United at the White House

Manchester United are in the midst of their summer tour in the United States. For the Red Devils, just as it is for all the Premier League teams out across the pond playing exhibition games, it’s all about the money. Yes, they get to work on their fitness for the upcoming season, evaluate players, try new formations and strategies, and certainly try to find a comfort zone and work the kinks out.

But this is really about revenue streams plain and simple. I don’t mean just for MUFC, but for all the teams out on tour in America: Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur etc.

VIDEO: Bears legend Gale Sayers thinks RBs today are nuts

You know kids these days…..Or “hey man, kids today.” That’s the impression I get when I watch this video of Chicago Bears legend Gale Sayers. That doesn’t mean he’s wrong though. I think the “Kansas Comet” is spot on.

Sayers talks about how he only made $25,000 a year in his day, and he just can’t understand how NFL running backs these days are turning down $30,000,000 contracts.

How does Liverpool replace the scoring of Luis Suarez?

luis suarez liverpool transfer rumors

WIth the Loic Remy deal having fallen through, Liverpool badly need another scorer to accompany Daniel Sturridge this season. Sturridge and Luis Suarez really worked well together last year, and the departure of Suarez means Sturrdige will probably see his production decline in 2014-15. That is, unless he really makes tremendous strides in this offseason.

So how does LFC adjust to life after Luis Suarez and replace his scoring?

Well, not with any one guy.

Luis Suarez loses Poker sponsorship

luis suarez-liverpool-transfer-rumours

Everyone who had watched the FIFA World Cup 2014 that was recently held in Brazil would have seen or at least known about the biting incident that took place in the group match between Uruguay and Italy. Luis Suarez, the famed forward striker of the Uruguayan national team, had bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini with his front teeth in the Italian penalty box when they were both running to get the ball.

Jay Cutler ready to thrive in year two under Trestman

Jay Cutler has plenty of talent. He has one of the strongest arms in the NFL and has thrown for 19 or more touchdowns in six of his eight NFL seasons. Cutler has only one playoff appearance in his career though with that coming in 2010 when the Chicago Bears captured the NFC North title.

Cutler advanced to the NFC Conference Championship game but left early with an injury with many people questioning his heart and determination to win.

Louis van Gaal is looking to add more defenders to Man United

What a refreshing change it is to go from David Moyes to Louis van Gaal. Not just because it’s like going from steerage to first class in terms of talent and management ability, but also the media opportunities. Moyes only spoke in cliches and coachspeak. LVG actually says something at press conferences.

As the recently appointed leader of Manchester United says, Old Trafford is looking to buy some defenders.

Ex Skins WR Antwaan Randle El weighs in on team name controversy

You’ve heard a lot about the Washington football team name change debate. It’s been one of the dominating story-lines this NFL offseason. It really should have been changed a long time ago. This shouldn’t have to be all on Daniel Snyder. I’ll stop opining on the topic right there. I’ve written plenty on that topic already. How about someone who works for/used to work for the team?

What does Antwaan Randle El think?

PHOTO: Man United home misspelled on D.C. Stadium scoreboard

It’s not so much the mistake, as it is the fact that nobody noticed and fixed it. What that says about the Washington Redskins staff, and their lack of awareness of the international game is an insult to Man United. It’s embarrassing.

FedEx Field hosted Manchester United and Inter Milan on Tuesday night as the two clubs played an International Champions Cup match. Scoreboard operators welcomed them with electronic signage labeling their home venue as ‘Old Traddord.’

High Stakes and High Impact Sports

Sports are one of America’s favorite pastimes, but some of those sports come with a higher risk of physical injury than others. Viewers may enjoy watching a game of football, baseball, or basketball, and players might enjoy participating in those sports, but it’s an undeniable fact that such sports aren’t too kind on players’ bodies.
