Tottenham Hotspur were big spenders this summer transfer window, but they failed to land one guy that they really wanted: West Bromich Albion‘s Saido Berahino.
With Toby Alderweireld, Clinton N’Jie, and Heung Min-Son all coming over to White Hart Lane, Berahino would have made for a nice addition to their summer shopping spree. Berahino paired up with Harry Kane would form a top notch striking dream team. Although Berahino hasn’t really proven himself all that much in the English top flight, he could potentially really progress if he plays alongside Kane.
Berahino wanted to move to Spurs, but his current club wouldn’t let him go, and no deal was struck before the transfer deadline closed. However it might happen this January.
Spurs Manager Mauricio Pochettino said today that Tottenham will be looking to buy a striker this winter.
“But maybe it’s true. I recognise they are not a specific striker so maybe we work to try to find such a player we can add in the next transfer window or in the summer to try to help the team.”
“For me, always you want to find a striker that scores a lot of goals and who has good physical condition, good characteristics, can press, work hard and is a nice guy too.”
