The new design concept for the DePaul Arena at McCormick Place features a sweeping curved roof above four transparent sides that will house DePaul men’s and women’s basketball along with entertainment and convention events.
A majority of the seating bowl and the backstage facilities will be located below street level in the new DePaul Arena in the South Loop neighborhood. The DePaul Lincoln Park campus is located 10 ‘L’ stops away from the future home of the Blue Demons.
DPU hired the same architectural firm that did the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. (once the tallest buildings in the world)
The 10,000-seat DePaul Arena is scheduled to open for the start of the 2016-17 basketball season and will be located near McCormick Place on Cermak Road between Indiana and South Prairie Avenues. Every Big East conference game will be televised, with the majority to air on FOX Sports 1.
