Danica Patrick finishes right on her average: 27th

Danica Patrick finished 27th in the Sylvania 300 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Right there at her average. She’s been pretty consistent finishing in that 25-29 area. And the arithmetic mean of her placement s have been 27.

Patrick, who started 21st, was in 17th place for the race’s final restart on lap 256 but fell to 27th. However, Danica Patrick was not “One Lap Downica”

Danica Patrick, who is competing for Rookie of the Year honors against Ricky Stenhouse Jr., finished three spots behind Stenhouse, who placed 24th. She remained 26th in the point standings and has 514 points, nine behind 25th-place David Ragan.

Danica’s teammate, Ryan Newman, driver of the No. 39 Quicken Loans Chevrolet SS, finished 16th.

“I’m not sure if I got hit or just got really loose on the last restart,” said Danica Patrick, who made her 38th Sprint Cup start and her second at New Hampshire. “The car just went sideways, and I lost a ton of spots. It’s disappointing.”

Actually I went back on Racebuddy to review why she dropped back from 17 to 27 so fast after the last restart. I was watching her car on Raceview on my sprint phone also. You can rewind Racebuddy in case you didn’t know. They switched to the rear camera and Casey Mears was behind her with Clint Bower to the inside of Mears. Mears went inside Patrick and nudged the left rear of her bumper causing her to get loose. Great technique by Mears to get around her, just enough to get the car unstable but not enough to wreck her. That is why she was 27th.

Maybe if she worried more about driving and less about photo shoots she would get somewhere
