Packers survive close call in 28-27 win over the New Orleans Saints

Despite some more questionable calls and a suspect pass defense, the Green Bay packers persevered at home to outlast the New Orleans Saints by the score of 28-27.

Aaron Rodgers wasn’t quite Drew Brees, but still effective while going 31-of-41 for 319 yards, four touchdowns and just the one interception.

The Packers (2-2) kept pace in a competitive NFC North division while the Saints (0-4) pretty much doomed their playoff chances.

NFL MVP Award Should Be Split Between Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Through most of the 2011 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers was the run-away favorite for the NFL Most Valuable Player Award. It wasn’t until the New Orleans Saints’ QB Drew Brees’ started shattering long-time passing records and a Packers loss to the Chiefs that it became a close race.

In the fifty three year history of the AP MVP Award, the award has been shared only twice, in 1997 (Brett Favre and Barry Sanders) and 2003 (Peyton Manning and Steve McNair).

Packers Offense Shines in 42-34 Win over the Saints


The Green Bay Packers opened the 2011 season with a 42-34 win over the New Orleans Saints in a game that has fantasy owners jumping with joy.

Aaron Rodgers showed no signs of slowing down from the Super Bowl season as he completed 27 of his 35 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns.

Highlighting the Packers dominating offense was rookie wideout Randall Cobb who scored a receiving touchdown and also took back a record-tying 108 yard kick-off return for a touchdown.

Full, Updated List of Ohio State Buckeyes in the NFL

Former Ohio State Buckeyes playing in the National Football League this season will number 37 when your peruse the 53-man opening day rosters. The 2011 NFL season gets under way tonight when the Green Bay Packers hosts New Orleans in a game that will feature four former Buckeyes: A.J. Hawk and Ryan Pickett will suit up for the defending Super Bowl champions and Malcolm Jenkins and Will Smith are members of the Saints.

The list of Buckeyes in the NFL includes seven players off the 2010 team: Chimdi Chekwa (Oakland), Cameron Heyward (Pittsburgh), Jermale Hines (St. Louis Rams), Jake McQuaide (St. Louis), Terrelle Pryor (Oakland), Brian Rolle (Philadelphia) and Dane Sanzenbacher (Chicago Bears).

Green Bay Packers 2011 Schedule Notables


We’re not sure if all of them will be played, but the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers schedule has been released.

Not only do they kick off the NFL Season in the league’s opening Thursday game, they play on three holidays and have many juicy match-ups in their journey to back-to-back Super Bowls.
