The odds are stacked in the Packers’ favor against the Detroit Lions

When the Detroit Lions visit Green Bay it gives the media a chance to show off a bunch of unique statistics in the NFL, a league which has become defined by parity.

The recent past between the Lions and Packers has nothing to do with parity.

The Lions haven’t won in the state of Wisconsin since 1991, back when Barry Sanders was breaking ankles and dropping the jaw of every fan in the nation.

Previewing the Green Bay Packers vs. the Adrian Petersons

No disrespect to the Minnesota Vikings who are one of the better stories in the NFL and NFC North particularly. Still they are without their best receiver in Percy Harvin and are riding a very young and inexperienced quarterback in Christian Ponder.

The one thing the Vikings (6-5) do have is Adrian Peterson who has miraculously come back from a nasty knee injury to put up MVP-like numbers. Peterson will have to top that miracle to beat the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field in a game they absolutely need to stay pace with the Chicago Bears. If the Packers (7-4) don’t beat Minnesota, it will inevitably be panic time in Wisconsin. [Read more…]

NFC North Marathon begins with the Detroit Lions for the Green Bay Packers

Five of the Green Bay Packers’ seven remaining games will come against NFC North opponents. That should make for a very interesting division battle as Green Bay (6-3) sits just one game back of the Chicago Bears (7-2).

The marathon begins with the Detroit Lions who are coming off a tough 34-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and will need every game they can get in order to make the playoffs. [Read more…]

Green Bay Packers look to give the Cardinals their fifth straight loss

Winners of three straight, the Green Bay Packers welcome in the Arizona Cardinals who appear on the opposite side of the spectrum with four straight losses.

The Cardinals (4-4) are the first team since the 2002 Oakland Raiders to start the year 4-0 and lose their next four games. Green Bay has a chance to make sure the birds from the desert don’t follow the same path as that Raiders team went on to finish the year 11-5 and win the Super Bowl behind MVP-quarterback Rich Gannon.

Desperate Green Bay Packers need some help in Houston: Brutally Honest Preview

Two teams that many had as Super Bowl picks coming out of the preseason have drifted in completely different directions to start the year.

The Houston Texans are one of the league’s two undefeated teams at 5-0 while the Green Bay Packers have stumbled to a 2-3 record.

A week six match-up between these two pits a Packers team desperate to keep pace in a competitive NFC North while the Texans attempt to further establish their selves as the best team in the league.

Green Bay Packers vs. Indianapolis Colts: Brutally Honest Preview

The Green Bay Packers have had one of the tougher schedules to start the year. They started with the stout 49ers, a division rival in the Bears, a Seattle game marred by the replacement refs and a Saints team desperate for a win. To come out of that with a 2-2 record could be looked at as a success or an utter disappointment.

And just when you thought the road gets a little easier, it doesn’t.

The Packers travel to Indianapolis to take on a Colts team who will be playing with heavy hearts after learning about their Head Coach Chuck Pagano and his diagnosis with leukemia.

New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers: Brutally Honest Preview

Now that the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints have combined for only one win in a total of six games, it almost makes you believe that the league has some kind of vendetta against them.

Because of Bounty-Gate, the Saints (0-3) are without key defenders and their head coach Sean Payton which has them reeling at the end of close games. Meanwhile the Packers (1-2) are on the wrong side of a .5oo record due to the replacement refs’ blunder on Monday Night Football.

For these reasons, the match-up on Sunday is pretty much a must-win if either team wants to make the playoffs.

Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks: Brutally Honest Preview

For the 20th straight season, the Green Bay Packers will make an appearance on Monday Night Football, making the trip to CenturyLink Field to face off with the Seattle Seahawks.

Seattle is a city currently crazed by rookie sensation Russell Wilson, a guy Packers nation should know very well from his time with the state’s second most important football team, the Wisconsin Badgers.

This game won’t be about quarterbacks though, it’s about a couple of defenses coming off top notch performances in week two wins.

Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers: Brutally Honest Preview

If the 185th installment of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears works out like it usually does, it should be a great game for NFL Network to kick off their 2012 Thursday Night Football extravaganza.

The Bears (1-0) own the all-time edge by six games in the NFL’s oldest and most historic rivalry, but it’s the Packers (0-1) who have won six of the last seven.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Green Bay Packers: Brutally Honest Preview

The start of the NFL season can’t get any better for fans of the Green Bay Packers or San Francisco 49ers. It’s the league’s premier offense (Green Bay, 35.0 points per game in 2011) up against the league’s premier defense (San Francisco, 14.3 points per game given up in 2011).

At Lambeau Field, the Packers have won their last eight games against the 49ers, can they make it nine straight?

Chargers topple the Packers in a sloppy match-up; Preseason Notes and Links

Football has finally arrived, at least sort-of. In one of the first preseason match-ups of the year, turnovers were the name of the game as the San Diego Chargers and Green Bay Packers combined for seven of them. Don’t be fooled into thinking the scrubs were at fault either because star quarterbacks Philip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers had three of them.

Despite making a comeback in the third quarter, the Packers fell just short to the Chargers by the score of 21-13.

Follow the jump to find some notes and links regarding the winners and losers on the Packers roster. [Read more…]

Packers Keys To Victory Versus the Falcons

The Green Bay Packers continue their playoff road trip on Saturday at the Georgia Dome where they will take on the #1-seeded Atlanta Falcons in a NFC divisional match-up.

When these two teams met back in week 12, it didn’t go so well for the Green and Gold. Following a 40 yard kickoff-return from Eric Weems, Pro Bowl QB Matt Ryan moved his team down the field to set up for the game-winning 47 yard field goal with nine seconds left.

Here’s what the Packers need to do if they want to avenge the loss and more importantly advance to the NFC Championship for a chance to play in the biggest game of them all, the Super Bowl.
