Ohio State CB Bradley Roby will possibly be suspended

Ohio State cornerback Bradley Roby will have a short leash according to Urban Meyer. And a suspension is likely. Roby, a junior who was an afterthought recruit from the same high school as former Buckeyes DL Cameron Heyward, was arrested in Bloomington, Indiana on July 21st and faces preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury.

He was “asked to leave the bar after a disturbance, refused, and was subdued by bouncers at the bar before being taken into custody.”

Urban Meyer finds Ohio State defense ahead of offense thus far

Ohio-State-logo

The first Ohio State Buckeyes spring football season of Urban Meyer is about 1/3 way through. Much like last season, in which the defense was rather superior to the offense, Meyer expects the d have an advantage over the o in the early spring practice sessions.

“This early, the defense better win,” Meyer told about 35 assembled members of the media after practice. “They are playing well. The defense has two guys – John Simon and Johnathan Hankins – who are disrupting everything.”

Look for John Simon to be one of the most dominatnt defensive players on both the Buckeyes and in the Big Ten this year.

Ohio State needs to play more than just 6 or 7 guys

thad matta ohio state

In 2010, Ohio State won the Big Ten, the Big Ten Tournament and had a #2 seedin the NCAA Tournament. They were loaded with talent yet they only played 6-7 guys regularly, and were overly reliant on National Player of the Year Evan Turner.

They were upset by Tennessee in the sweet sixteen.

Last year, the Buckeyes were the tournament’s #1 overall seed, again loaded and deep, yet again over-reliant on one star- this time Jared Sullinger. Again they were upset in the tournament’s second weekend, and did not make the Elite Eight.

Five dumbest things ever said by Ohio St. President E. Gordon Gee

gordon-gee

As you can see from the picture above, Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee looks like a COMPLETE BUFFOON! Whenever he opens his mouth he only confirms what we suspect. I really can’t wait until this bowtied moron gets his come-uppance. I thought it would come, along with Athletic Director Gene Smith last summer during all the Terrelle Pryor-Jim Tressel scandal in Columbus.

Well, hopefully it comes soon as Capt. foot in mouth disease struck again yesterday. Man, don’t you just want to punch people wearing bowties in the face?

Ohio St. Lands Top 5 Class, Bret Bielema Calls Out Urban Meyer’s Tactics

Urban Meyer

Urban Meyer’s first recruiting class at Ohio State is ranked 3rd or 4th in the nation, depending on who you ask. So much for being hurt by NCAA sanctions/the stain of Jim Tressel/Terrelle Pryor corruption. Meyer’s recruiting class and alleged lack of class has caught the attention of Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema.

The Badgers leader was asked Wednesday if he thought Meyer would change recruiting in the Big Ten and Bielema had some choice quotes. From CBS Chicago:

Need a Football Fix? Brutally Honest Preview Greatest Hits

No one cares about the Pro Bowl. And the NHL All-Star game is too obscure to even rip on.

So what will you do on this football-less weekend?

Well, I have some ideas from when Nike was gracious enough to set me up for the 2010 Football Media Summit at Dallas Cowboys Stadium. I met a lot of football writers who told me about their…well if they were comedians, their “bits.” The signature segment if you will.

With this site, it’s clearly the mock drafts. Sure, the picture galleries of swimsuit models/cheerleaders/pagaent winners turned sideline reporters gets more traffic. As do the photo galleries of the most aesthetically pleasing female athletes out there.

But our mocks are #1.

Is #2 Ohio State the Best Team in All of College Basketball?

aaron-craft

As we put the finishing touches on another season of non-conference play in college basketball, we can take stock of where a lot of programs are, and where they are not.

In the Big Ten, the #2 Ohio State Buckeyes are clearly the class of the league. Yes, Wisconsin and Michigan are also ranked and we know they can ball. The Indiana Hoosiers are way better than any of us anticipated. Illinois, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue and Northwestern could all be solid, or they could all be NIT. All of these teams have struggled putting away the scrubs, while OSU blows all their scrub opponents out of the water.

I think the Buckeyes aren’t just the best team in the conference, but also the nation. Why because now they have an Aaron Craft to complement a Jared Sullinger.

Buckeyes Boom Herron Blows Up in Return From NCAA Suspension

Daniel “Boom” Herron wears #1 for the Ohio State Buckeyes. And when you see the difference he makes, it’s easy to understand why. He is the bonafide number one in their backfield “2 is not a winner, 3 nobody remembers.”

Yesterday, in the 17-7 win over previously unbeaten Illinois, Herron made his return from NCAA suspension. His first carry on the second play from scrimmage went for a first down; and he finished with 114 yards on 23 carries and one TD. It marked the fourth 100-yard rushing game of his career.
