Ohio State football practice overshadowing Elite 8 appearance

ohio-state-football

To say that Ohio State football is a religion is to undermine both college football and organized religion. Most churches envy both the size and devotion of the Ohio State football flock. In the Buckeye state Ohio State football is bigger than Jesus, Allah, Buddah, Moses, Pope Francis, Vishnu, Martin Luther, Joseph Smith, Zoroaster and L. Ron Hubbard COMBINED.

And even spring college football is a big deal in Columbus. Although, it’s nothing but scrimmages with themselves, it’s more a big deal than the Ohio State Buckeyes basketball team in the NCAA Tournament. Even though Buckeyes hoops reached the Final Four last season, THE Ohio State University DOMINATES the Big Ten conference tournament, and OSU reached the Elite 8 last night, bucknuts are still more interested in Ohio State football in the spring.

Even the polarizing figure of Aaron Craft isn’t enough to move the needle when it comes to hoops. Yesterday’s football scrimmage was attended by Big Ten Network, Eddie George and Notre Dame Public Relations Manager Lou Holtz. Uhm, wasn’t there a basketball game or something on yesterday?

12-0 Ohio State Buckeyes could finish with AP National Title

urban-meyer

Despite Ohio State’s post-season ban, the Buckeyes played the season like a team with a National Championship on the line. Every week Urban Meyer had his guys ready to play, and every week, his players came away with a victory.

Very rarely does a team play up to their full potential when they have, seemingly, nothing to play for. There was no Big Ten or National Championship waiting for the Buckeyes at the end of the season, but they strapped up every week and gave it their all.

Will Urban Meyer make an immediate Impact at Ohio State?

Urban Meyer’s recent move to Ohio State has been the cause of much speculation over the last season in the college football world. Although there has been little question as to whether the high-profile coach will succeed at OSU, many have wondered how soon Meyer will make his mark on the program.

For a team that posted a 3-5 conference record last year and is starting a second season with a second head coach after Jim Tressel, the outlook appears good for Urban and the Buckeyes. Although Ohio State is coming off of a disappointing season, Meyer is inheriting an offense with a similar system to what he ran in Florida, along with a defense that is returning nine starters.
