Michigan’s Tim Hardaway Jr. will continue NBA legacy

tim-hardaway-jr-michigan

Reported today, Tim Hardaway Jr will declare for the NBA Draft.

As the Orange Krush Illinois student section at Assembly Hall harassed Tim Hardaway Jr of the Michigan Wolverines, they chanted “daddy’s boy, daddy’s boy.” Rather unimaginative and not at all damaging, don’t you think?

2013 NBA Draft stock report: Charleston Classic edition

colorado charleston classic

It wasn’t a star studded field but the Charleston Classic did afford college basketball nuts like myself to check out some competitive early season hoops.  Led by their spectacular guard play, the Colorado Buffaloes claimed the tourney title.  Though their play didn’t thrust them into the national spotlight, it certainly caught my attention and probably opened the eyes of some NBA GM’s as well.  Here are some players who either helped or hurt their 2013 NBA Draft Stock.

Who had the most accurate 2012 NBA Mock Draft?

NBA Draft

A mock draft is exactly like a sports nerd crossword puzzle- you have to work hard to make things fit logically. And our friends at Weakside Awareness have done a study showing who can complete the puzzle most effectively.

From WA:

NBA Draft 2012 is in the books so it’s time for a lot of grading… no, I don’t mean judging teams or drafted players because it’s too early but there’s one draft-related topic which doesn’t require waiting few years:

Trail Blazers have interesting draft with Lillard and Leonard

damian lillard weber state

The Portland Trail Blazers made an interesting splash in the 2012 NBA Draft taking a point guard from a mid-major school that few people had heard off, and a project pick at center. They took Damian Lillard at #6 from Weber St. and a guy who played for someone named Weber in Meyers Leonard from the Illini at #11.

This marks the first time since 1990 that Illinois has had a player selected in the first round of both the NFL and NBA Drafts in the same year. Jeff George went to the Indianapolis Colts #1 overall, and current Bulls analyst Kendall Gill went fifth to the Charlotte Hornets. This year Whitney Merciless went #24 to the Houston Texans and A.J. Jenkins went #30 to the San Francisco 49ers.

FINAL 2012 NBA Mock Draft-First Round (6/28/12)

Terrence Jones: yet another Kentucky Wildcats NBA first round pick

terrence jones kentucky

There will be at least five, possibly six Kentucky Wildcats taken in the first round of this NBA Draft this June 28th, and yes we know that’s just plain nuts. All the “league” level talent coming out of Lexington, some of the guys get lost in the shuffle and forgotten. Everyone knows Anthony Davis, and most people know Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, but what about Terrence Jones, who sits at the edge of the lottery picks?

Jones came to UK with Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb, and has already bought a Cadillac for his mom in anticipation of the draft.

Will Damian Lillard be the first point guard taken on draft night?

damian lillard weber state

Because he played at obscure Weber State, you may not have heard of point guard Damian Lillard. But you will hear plenty about him come NBA Draft night, he just might be the first point guard taken, and looks to be a lock for the lottery. Mid-major guys are often overlooked and Lillard is no exception. Even though he has, and pretty much has always had, all the tools.

“I think a lot of people talk about me playing at a smaller school at Weber St. and I think camps like this are a perfect opportunity to show that I can play to the level of everyone else in the draft,” Lillard said at the NBA Draft combine.
