Baltimore Ravens Should Pursue a Joe Flacco Back-up/Successor

The Baltimore Ravens found a reliable signal-caller in Joe Flacco when they took him in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

However, this was roughly 9 years ago, and Flacco obviously isn’t going to last forever. As Flacco enters his twilight years, should the Ravens begin looking for a successor that they can begin developing while they still have ample time?

Have the Baltimore Ravens improved their offense enough?

Joe Flaco Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens rode Joe Flacco’s big arm and a strong defense led by Ray Lewis to a magical Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers. That was the 2012-2013 season. The 2013-2014 season was much different.

Gone were future Hall-of-Famers Lewis and Ed Reed. Also gone was Flacco’s favorite target Anquan Boldin. To make matters worse, another one of his other favorite targets, Dennis Pitta, went down with a dislocated hip in training camp. The Ravens failed to make the playoffs, finishing 8-8. Despite a tumultuous offseason where five players were arrested, they are confident they can get back to the top of the AFC North in 2014. [Read more…]

Packers Aaron Rodgers is set to become a rich man due to Baltimore’s ‘Wacco for Flacco’

Aaron Rodgers and Ted Thompson copy

The Baltimore Ravens initiated an earthquake on Friday night when they made their 28 year old quarterback Joe Flacco the highest paid player in the NFL. Flacco, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, is set to make a staggering $120.6 million over six years.

Intuition would say that Flacco is the happiest man in the league, but in reality, that’s just not true.

Green Bay Packers front-man Aaron Rodgers is considered by most the best player in the league and just happens to be up for a contract extension this upcoming season. Rodgers currently is the 13th highest paid player at his position at 12.7 million per year.

Can’t you just picture Rodgers walking by Packers General Manager Ted Thompson with that sparkle in his eye? [Read more…]

5 Super Bowl XLVII storylines the media overkilled these past 2 weeks

joe-flacco

One thing about the Super Bowl that no one likes is the extra week of media buildup. Absolutely no one cares about the Pro Bowl, so the second bye week creates even more time for the press to recycle the same tired storylines. And like this flu season, this “Harbowl,” “Harbaugh Bowl,” or “Harbauwl” was much worse than most years.

The main plotline has been beaten to death on Championship weekend.

The Chicago Ties to Super Bowl XLVII

Harbaugh and Ditka

You know what would be really cool? For the Chicago tie to the Super Bowl to be that the Bears would be in it.

You know what’s not really cool? Reality.

The Bears are on the outside looking in. Instead of preparing for an epic battle in New Orleans, most players are probably busy handing out Super Bowl party invites.

And even though some of those players are living it up in Hawaii for the Pro Bowl festivities, at the end of the day, no one really gives a rat’s ass about the Pro Bowl.

That’s actually a proven scientific fact. Google it.

Baltimore Ravens 2012 Fantasy Football Preview

The off-season hasn’t been kind to the Baltimore Ravens who were a Lee Evans’ drop away from going to the Super Bowl in 2011. Defensive Player of the Year, Terrell Suggs, is likely out until late November with an achilles injury and superstar running back Ray Rice (above) was tagged with a frustrating franchise tag.

Even though the mood in Baltimore seems tepid, don’t count out Head Coach John Hardbaugh whose 44-20 record and .688 winning percentage is tied for the best in the NFL. And we all know, winning seems to go hand-and-hand with happy fantasy owners.

Here are the guys in Baltimore that you should have on your list come time to do the fantasy draft. [Read more…]
