Can’t leave Big Ten football alone the game needs me. Notorious B.I.G. once said that he raps about the ghetto because that’s what he knows. And…”if I worked at McDonald’s, I’d be rapping about Big Macs and fries.”

You write and talk what you know and live. And I know Big Ten football. We’re still a ways away from Big Ten football media days. Well, less than two weeks now. The preseason is indeed here, time for some WAY TOO Early Big Ten football power rankings

Cincinnati Bengals stadium to host Ohio St spring game

sarah-jones

The 2013 Ohio State Spring football Game will be played April 13 in Cincinnati at Paul Brown Stadium, officials from the Ohio State Department of Athletics, Cincinnati Bengals and Hamilton County announced today.

As you well know, people in central Ohio have no life, so this scrimmage, this opportunity to see third-stringers battle one another routinely draws 80-90,000 people; reflecting the dysfunctional dependency that people there have for college football. They’re even willing to pay for this because they have nothing else going on in their lives.

Ohio State Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer reinstated Storm Klein to the team last night but with the a provisional two-game suspension.

Klein was kicked off the team this offseason due to legal issues.

Ohio State Buckeyes have 3 practices in the books

osu-hotty

For the second consecutive afternoon, the Ohio State Buckeyes practiced on the lush green grass fields at the Harmon Family Football Park where the temperatures can be as much as 30 degrees cooler than on the FieldTurf fields. Tuesday, with a mid-practice temp from a smart phone that read 90 degrees “but felt like 88,” was another single practice day, but it was the second for the full squad. The initial practice of the season last Friday consisted of a split squad, with the freshman and rookies practicing in the afternoon after the returning veterans practiced in the morning.

Urban Meyer gives most BS answer ever at Media Day

Making an icon of a college football coach, having Joe Paterno bigger than life and regarded as a demigod- that’s a big reason for what happened at Penn State. Jerry Sandusky was protected by Paterno and company because the coach was revered to a super-human extent.

Just like Urban Meyer at Ohio State. Even though he just got to Columbus, the man named after a pope is treated as the Pope of Ohio. Even the Buckeyes media are complicit to this.

But one guy at Big Ten media day asked the smartest question I’ve heard all day:

Urban Meyer’s Greatest Task at Ohio State: on the field or off of it?

Ohio-State-logo

The past few months have been rocky for Ohio State and Urban Meyer. Around this time last year we learned that due to a lack to player control (players selling team memorabilia in exchange for tattoos), Ohio State was forced to vacate wins from the 2010 season. Also, beloved head coach Jim Tressel, one of the schools winningest coaches, was forced to resign after knowingly withholding information about his players’ violations.

Due to the abrupt departure of Tressel, Luke Fickell took over as the interim head coach for the Buckeyes until they could find a permanent replacement (Meyer). With Fickell as a quick fix for the troubled program, Ohio State went 6-7, the first losing season for the Buckeyes since 1988.

After taking control, Urban Meyer is expected to clean up the program off the field, and lead the team back to success on the field. Which task will be toughest?

Ohio State star tailback to miss 10 weeks

Jordan Hall is a senior tailback who is expected to be a big part of the Buckeyes offense this season. He and Carlos Hyde will contend for the bulk of the carries. But that’s all changed now that Hall will be out of commission for approximately 10 weeks while recovering from surgery Friday to an injured foot.

Two Ohio State football players suspended after weekend arrest

ohio-state-buckeyes

(UPDATE: Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer confirmed today (Monday, June 4) that Jake Stoneburner and Jack Mewhort have been suspended from all football team activities. And then issued no further comment at this time.)

Two very important Ohio State Buckeyes were arrested late Friday night (Saturday morning). The team’s best offensive lineman/projected starting left tackle and the starting tight end/guy who will be probably be QB Braxton Miller‘s top receiving target this fall were caught urinating in public; which led to obstruction of justice misdemeanor offenses.
