Forget Flacco, it’s ‘Is Andrew Luck ELITE?’ debate time

Luck Captain

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is emerging as one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks. After avoiding a sophomore slump with a stellar second season, Luck entered the NFL’s Most Valuable Player discussion in 2014. Although his yardage total dipped from 4,374 yards to 3,822 from year one to year two, something more important was also cut in half:

Luck threw just nine interceptions in 2013, as opposed to 18 in 2012. in 2014, his yardage increased to 4,761, and he’s thrown 40 TD passes to just 16 interceptions. Again Luck’s INT decreased.

New England Patriots, Green Bay Packers: franchise twins

aaron rodgersbrady

In 1997, the Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots came together for a Super Bowl in New Orleans. In 2007, the Pack finished a couple plays short of joining the NE Pats in the NFL title game once again. This season, a Packers-Patriots finale could very well happen; and it’s becoming a trendy pick to actually forecast this scenario.

Olivia Munn doesn’t play defense for Green Bay’s opponent each week

Olivia Munn

Ever since Aaron Rodgers took over for Brett Favre as the Packers’ starting quarterback in 2008, Green Bay has been one of the most successful franchises in the NFL—if not the most successful. With six straight playoff appearances and counting, the Packers are tied with the New England Patriots for longest active streak of making the postseason.

NY Jets should effectively rush Aaron Rodgers

Mo Wilk

This NY Jets defense contains arguably Rex Ryan’s best pass rush since he came to New York in 2009.

Through the years, he’s been able to call defensive gems against the likes of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. He did so against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers back in 2010, but the offense faltered and the Jets were shutout 9-0. Rodgers went just 15 of 34 for 74 yards and 0 touchdowns in that one.

NY Jets just cannot lose to Raiders rookie QB Derek Carr

New York Jets v Tennessee Titans

If there’s one category Rex Ryan is dominant in, it’s his ability to make rookie quarterbacks look like they don’t belong on the field. With a 7-3 record against rookie quarterbacks, Jets fans should look forward to seeing Derek Carr step out onto the MetLife Stadium turf with the Oakland Raiders. Some NFL pundits wonder whether Derek Carr should even be on the field this weekend.

Say what you will about Matt Schaub and his 2013 pick-six plague over the course of 10 games, but he has been slinging the ball on NFL defenses since 2004. The Jets secondary that will run out onto the field this Sunday would’ve been one of the worst secondaries that Schaub has seen throughout his 128 career starts. With Dee Milliner all but ruled out for Sunday, Ryan goes from Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie to Kyle Wilson and Antonio Allen.

US Weekly claims Jessica Szohr dating Aaron Rodgers again

jessica_szohr

Actress Jessica Szohr, famous for her role on “Gossip Girl”  is supposedly the new main squeeze of the leader of the Packers. So much for the rumored Aaron Rodgers homosexual affair with his former trainer. For the week leading up to and after New Year’s, the entire world of web search users acted as if the possibility of Aaron Rodgers being gay was the most important thing in the history of humanity.

Well, Jessica Szohr has something to say about that. Or at least the publicist of Jessica Szohr does.

A Green Bay Packers farewell to the Chicago Bears’ Brian Urlacher

Urlacher vs. Packers

On Wednesday morning, the Chicago Bears’ eight-time Pro Bowl linebacker, Brian Urlacher, decided to call it quits and retire forever a member of the Green Bay Packers most historic rival.

Packers fans should and will celebrate the retirement of a future hall-of-famer and one of the best linebackers to play in the NFL over the past twenty years.

Here’s a look back at his career, specifically against the Packers: [Read more…]

What is the Chicago Bears Biggest Need?

Needs

It seems like such a simple question, but no one can provide a definitive answer.

In free agency, the Bears did quite a bit in terms of addressing some of their most glaring needs. The offensive tackle, tight end, and linebacker positions were all upgraded.

But with the NFL Draft less than a week away, predictions are still all over the board for who the Bears may take with the 20th selection.

In my opinion, this is a two-horse race: offensive lineman, or linebacker. Apparently, most draft experts don’t agree with me.

Chicago Bears Hindsight Draft

Jerry Angelo Hindsight

Imagine, if you will, Troy Polamalu returning a fumble he forced himself for a touchdown; Aaron Rodgers lofting up 50-yard bombs with pinpoint accuracy; and Maurice Jones-Drew dissecting a defense with his explosive speed.

Now, imagine all of those things happening… with those players wearing Bears jerseys. Call it crazy if you’d like, but the draft records show that former GM Jerry Angelo had the power to make all of this possible. In hindsight. [Read more…]

Packers Aaron Rodgers is set to become a rich man due to Baltimore’s ‘Wacco for Flacco’

Aaron Rodgers and Ted Thompson copy

The Baltimore Ravens initiated an earthquake on Friday night when they made their 28 year old quarterback Joe Flacco the highest paid player in the NFL. Flacco, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, is set to make a staggering $120.6 million over six years.

Intuition would say that Flacco is the happiest man in the league, but in reality, that’s just not true.

Green Bay Packers front-man Aaron Rodgers is considered by most the best player in the league and just happens to be up for a contract extension this upcoming season. Rodgers currently is the 13th highest paid player at his position at 12.7 million per year.

Can’t you just picture Rodgers walking by Packers General Manager Ted Thompson with that sparkle in his eye? [Read more…]

Which quarterback should the Chicago Bears draft?

Matt Scott

Before you get up in arms about the title, let me make this clear: this is not an article proposing that the Bears should pick a quarterback in the 1st round of this year’s draft to replace Jay Cutler.

If the Bears take a quarterback at all, it will be with one of their later selections in the 4th, 5th, 6th, or even 7th rounds. No quarterback taken that late will challenge for a starting spot in year one. It will be a “project” type player who will have to pay his dues in practice and in the film room while patiently waiting for a starting shot down the rode a la Aaron Rodgers.

Colin Kaepernick sets NFL records in win over the Packers

Colin Kaepernick vs. Packers

San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh went from potential idiot to genius in a matter of a few hours after his hand-picked quarterback shredded the NFL record books in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Second-year guy Colin Kaepernick who resembles a human-like gazelle on the football field ran for a NFL-playoff record 183 rushing yards on 16 carries against the Green Bay Packers. As a whole, the 49ers racked up an astounding 581 of offense in the 45-31 win.

For a team who dedicated the entire off-season to improving their defense, it has to be a tough loss for the Packers.
