Draymond Green means much more to the GSW than advertised

Draymond Green MSU

We hear about the Splash Brothers incessantly, and rightfully so. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are not just elite players, but extremely fun to watch. They overshadow Draymond Green to some extent. Green matters a lot to the Golden State Warriors and will end up being one of the biggest impact players in this Western Conference Finals.

The Warriors allowed a league-low 98.2 points per 100 possessions, a defensive rating that dropped to 96.0 with Green on the court and increased to 102.1 with him off the court.

NBA Draft

A mock draft is exactly like a sports nerd crossword puzzle- you have to work hard to make things fit logically. And our friends at Weakside Awareness have done a study showing who can complete the puzzle most effectively.

FINAL 2012 NBA Mock Draft-First Round (6/28/12)

NBA Draft: Draft Best Available or Fill Team Needs?

NBA Draft

Tonight at 7 PM Eastern Time on ESPN, the 2012 NBA Draft will begin. The first pick is all set, with Kentucky’s freshman phenom Anthony Davis set to become an official member of the New Orleans Hornets. One doesn’t even have to ask why New Orleans is so set on Davis with their pick. He is the best talent available in the draft, boasting exceptional height, basketball IQ, ball-handling, and defensive instincts, and he also fills a huge need for the Hornets, as Gustavo Ayon and Darryl Watkins were their big men at the end of last season. After the top pick, however, many teams like the Bobcats, Wizards, and Cavs are faced with the age old question: should they take the best player available or pick a lesser player who fills a glaring team need?

This is a guest blog from Johnny Hasson

Memphis Grizzlies must upgrade depth this off-season

grizzlies cheerleaders

By signing their key players to contract extensions the past couple of years, the Memphis Grizzlies have a solid starting five.  However, their bench production has been average at best which has held them back a bit.  The Griz need to upgrade the talent behind their starters this off-season, but that will be difficult to do since the team has very little cap flexibility in free agency.

Kentucky’s Anthony Davis ready to join New Orleans Hornets

anthony davis

A couple years ago, Anthony Davis was a lightly recruited guard at Charter Perspectives High School in Chicago, Ill. Then he grew over half a foot, and became a big man prospect with guard skills. The rare combination of attributes led to his shooting up the recruiting rankings. He became a McDonald’s All-American, won all the national college basketball individual awards, and led the Kentucky Wildcats to a national championship in his one-and-done season.

Now the unibrowed one is set become the #1 overall pick by the NBA owned New Orleans Hornets.

The Sports Bank’s Ngozi Ekeledo stopped by the 2012 NBA Draft Combine’s Media Day and talked to the most-likely top draft pick about handling the media pressure and his familiarity with the city of New Orleans.

Terrence Jones: yet another Kentucky Wildcats NBA first round pick

terrence jones kentucky

There will be at least five, possibly six Kentucky Wildcats taken in the first round of this NBA Draft this June 28th, and yes we know that’s just plain nuts. All the “league” level talent coming out of Lexington, some of the guys get lost in the shuffle and forgotten. Everyone knows Anthony Davis, and most people know Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, but what about Terrence Jones, who sits at the edge of the lottery picks?

Jones came to UK with Brandon Knight and Doron Lamb, and has already bought a Cadillac for his mom in anticipation of the draft.
