2010 NBA Mock Draft (Role Playing Edition)

2010 NBA Mock Draft

It’s NBA Draft week!  I am more giddy than Adam Lambert at an all boys school.  Make sure to check back to The Sports Bank frequently this week for all the latest draft info.  I will be updating my 2010 NBA Mock Draft Tuesday, Wednesday, and several times leading up to the first pick on Thursday.  We will also be live chatting during the actual draft and posting live grades for each pick so come and join the fun.  You can also check out my 2011 NBA Mock Draft.

When I usually do my NBA Mock Draft, I more times than not tend to make the picks based on what I think the teams WILL do rather than what they SHOULD do.  For today’s mock draft, I enlisted the help of fellow TSB contributors and NBA nerds, Peter Christian (PC) and Andy Weise (AW).  (I would be DK… David Kay.)  We each did some role playing and assumed the general manager position for each NBA team and went through the draft with the picks WE would make if WE were running the team.  Trades were allowed and here are how the selections played out.

Final NBA Draft Early Entries List

By: David Kay

Either you’re in or you’re out.  The 2010 NBA Draft class is set in stone.  Saturday night was the deadline for underclassmen to withdraw their name and decide to return to school if they had not hired an agent.  25 of the 80 players who originally declared chose to pull their names out of the draft meaning 55 underclassmen are in for good.  Translation: a lot of young men are going to be incredibly disappointed draft night and receiving some terrible career advice.

Official 2010 NBA Draft Early Entries List

By: David Kay

The deadline has passed for college basketball players to declare their intentions on whether or not they are declaring for the NBA Draft and today, the NBA released the official list.  80 players have decided to do so with a large amount of them not signing an agent to keep their eligibility by possibly returning to college (UPDATE: the list is now down to 79 because minutes after I posted this Dayton’s Chris Wright pulled his name out.)  Players have until May 8th to either hire an agent or announce they are indeed returning to school.  Here is the list of players who for now are putting their names in the draft.  Check out David’s 2010 NBA Mock Draft and click on the player’s name for a complete scouting report.
