As we’ve said before, London Fletcher is our favorite NFL pundit. He’s quite good at what he does, and he appears each Sunday on CBS Sports Network’s “That Other Pregame Show.” With the news today that the San Diego Chargers are moving back to Los Angeles, it’s anybody’s guess who the second team will be sharing the stadium with the Chargers in Carson, California.
It will either be the St. Louis Rams or the Oakland Raiders.
London Fletcher on today’s edition of “That Other Pregame Show,” on the possibility of Rams Leaving St. Louis:
I started my NFL career in St. Louis in 1998. It was the same year that Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa had that epic home run battle. Even in that year, with the baseball team doing as well as they were, with Mark McGwire playing as well as he played, the football stadium was sold out each and every game… We won a Super Bowl and went to another Super Bowl.
I hope and pray that the NFL does not rip the heart out of the city of St. Louis again and move a football team from that city. That would be devastating to that city because these fans, they’re not only huge baseball fans, they’re huge football fans. If you put a winning product on the field, they will show up and support that team.
Bonus points to London Fletcher for bringing up the Big Mac and Sosa steroidfest of 1998.
There have been quite a few new developments in the Carson, California stadium share scenario. Go here to read up on those.
