The dog days of summer, are a funny time for sports news. By mid-late August you can see football right in front of you, you’re almost there, but it’s still a very slow news time, because all the good offseason news for the NFL and NBA is over. All the free agent moves and trades have been made (or in this case with the NBA there were none).
And before we get back to more college football and NFL preseason storyline we bring you some pop culture news. In this case, it centers around Katy Perry and some impressive statistics. And us sports fans love our stats don’t we?
Katy Perry’s current single “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, making her the second personality and first woman to produce five #1 singles off the same album. Michael Jackson was the first.
Perry’s hit singles come from her album “Teenage Dream,” which has sold 1.7 million copies. These are some impressive numbers by Perry; even more impressive than her bra/cup size. Maybe.
Her five #1 hits are: “California Gurls” (featuring Snoop Dogg), “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).”
The King of Pop’s quintet of No. 1’s were all off the album “Bad,” and included: the title track, “Dirty Diana,” “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” (with Siedah Garrett), “The Way You Make Me Feel” and “Man in the Mirror.”
