Danica Patrick started 17th at Texas Motor Speedway and finished a season-best eighth in the Nationwide Series O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 Friday night.
She went from 13th to eighth after the final restart with six laps to go. It’s been a very long season for Patrick, who finished 38th at Daytona, despite having the pole. A wreck contributed to that disappointment.
And 35th at Fontana, as she was inhibited by engine failure. Her previous season best was 12th.
From USA Today:
“All and all, it’s nice to have a good finish for the team, for (sponsor) Go Daddy, for everybody that works really hard. We’ve kind of had a tough go at the start of this year, so that was fun.”
Her most recent race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., resulted in her first DNF (did not finish) of the season.
