Who will be the next individual to become the Purdue starting quarterback?
And attempt to become the next name etched into the minds of Purdue fans when they hear the slogan “Cradle of Quarterbacks?”
Head coach Darrell Hazell announced the Purdue starting quarterback for the opener against Cincinnati today at 6 p.m. Coach Hazell and the selected starter met with media members for a brief time at 6:15 p.m. in the team meeting room.
And he is…
…Rob Henry, or “Bob Hank” as Big Ten Network personality Mike Hall likes to call him. Henry is the last Purdue starting quarterback to lead the Boilers to a road win over a ranked team (NW 2010). Yes, that “NW” team was 6-0 heading into that game. Northwestern has a primary chant “Go U. NU” Yet the entire world calls them NW instead. And I find that kind of hilarious.
Rob Henry played the best by far in camp. So this is no surprise. Good luck to him as the next Purdue starting quarterback. He’s going to need it. Purdue starting quarterback Rob Henry has played in 22 college games. Austin Appleby and Danny Etling have combined for zero. Henry is the team leader, and genuinely deserves it.
