ESPN the magazine recently published its body issue, and with it a couple nude photos of the U.S.A. Women’s Olympic Volleyball team. Local product Nellie Spicer stood out! The former UCLA Bruin comes from a very large family in Barrington, Illinois, a very wealthy northwest suburb of Chicago.
Her sister Betsy Spicer was a big ten star in the same sport for the Illini in the late ’90s.
Her senior year at UCLA in 2007, Spicer was named first-team AVCA and Volleyball Magazine All-American for the second year in a row, also receiving first-team All-Pacific Region and All-Pac-10 honors. She started all 33 matches she appeared in, playing in 120 games and was first on the team, third in the Pac-10 and 25th in the nation with 12.92 assists per game

Played significantly at Montreux Volley Masters with 20 sets played with just one start, that in bronze-medal match against China…Averaged 1.25 digs and 0.45 points per set while turning in a .625 hitting efficiency (6-1-8)…Started one match at Pan American Cup with 15 total sets played…Tallied 10 assists versus Trinidad & Tobago on July 3 with three aces and a kill. 2010 – Started all five matches at setter during the Montreux Volley Masters, leading the Americans to the silver medal
