There’s a good reason the Ohio State Buckeyes are everybody’s national title pick; The Big Ten East division is like the NBA Western Conference. The Big Ten West division is like the NBA Eastern Conference, and Ohio State is the class of the East. Right now, the Big Ten is the new SEC.
Making the Ohio State Buckeyes the new Alabama Crimson Tide. That was verified with the preseason Associated Press poll released today.
I will not apologize for the ALL CAPS in the headline, as this is a big deal.
Ohio State took 62 of 64 first place votes in the coaches’ poll with TCU and Alabama each securing one vote apiece. However, the AP pollsters selected the Ohio State Buckeyes as the unanimous #1 with all 61 first-place votes. The AP preseason poll dates back to 1950 and this is the first time it has ever had a unanimous preseason No. 1 team.
OSU has also been ranked in the AP Top 25 more than any school in the nation; 839 times and nearly 50 weeks more than the team with the second-most appearances. Your current Ohio State Buckeyes are ranked No. 1 by the AP for the 96th time.
Only two schools, Oklahoma (101) and Notre Dame (98) have been the AP’s No. 1 team more weeks than the Buckeyes.
