Just in case you needed another Michael Bennett football star in your life, now you have one. I’m getting tired trying to keep my Michael Bennett (s) straight. First you had the Wisconsin Badgers tailback and track star who went on to play some running back for the Minnesota Vikings.
You also have Michael Bennett the star defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks who gave us the famous “there is no hometown discount, this is not CostCo!” soundbite.
Then Michael Bennett used his brother’s team (Chicago Bears Tight End Martellus Bennett) as leverage, well his agent did anyway, to get more money from Seattle when he re-signed. Now we have Ohio State senior defensive lineman Michael Bennett who is ranked as a top 15-25 overall prospect in the 2015 NFL Draft.
He’s recorded 66 career tackles including 17.5 tackles-for-losses totaling 90 yards. He also has a team-high 11 quarterback sacks entering the 2014 season.
Michael Bennett is coming off a fine 2013 season when he amassed career highs in tackles (44) tackles-for-loss and yards (11.5 for 62) and quarterback sacks (7.5). He ranked fourth in the Big Ten Conference in sacks and 15th in TFLs, and in conference-only games, he ranked second in the league in sacks (6.5) and seventh in TFLs (9.5).
Now we just need a third Anthony Davis to go along with our third Michael Bennett.
