Running back C.J. Prosise is among the fastest, if not the fastest player on #8 Notre Dame. He broke off a 91-yard-touchdown run in the fourth quarter that turned a somewhat close game with #14 Georgia Tech into a complete blowout. It was also the longest run in Notre Dame Stadium history.
“I saw the crease and I just took off,” said Prosise.
“definitely a great honor to have that and my name be in here forever.”
C.J. Prosise had 198 yards rushing and three touchdowns. He described the feeling of the team during the Irish’s touchdown drive that made it a two score game:
“Now it’s time to step on their throats and end it here,” C.J. Prosise said. “It was important because it gave us a cushion.”
In terms of who the fastest guy on the Fighting Irish football team is, Prosise thinks it could be wide receiver Will Fuller, who is probably the best candidate for the Heisman Trophy that Notre Dame has.
“Will Fuller is probably the fastest guy on the team, by far, he pulls away from guys who are playing 20 yards off of him,” Prosise said.
“But I’ll call myself one of the fastest guys on the team, you know, I’ll throw myself in there if anybody else is saying it I might as well say it too,” Prosise joked in a jovial manner.
Depending on who you listen to and trust, #8 Notre Dame was an underdog today at home versus #14 Georgia Tech. Some sports books had the Irish as a three point underdog, others had them as a three point favorite. And of course, other places set the line at every spot in between.
Notre Dame Coach Brian Kelly saw his team as the underdogs today:
“All the experts picked Georgia Tech to win this game. Didn’t faze our team at all.”
And he was very impressed by how his team responded, given all the injuries:
“You can sustain some injuries, some key injuries, and still play at a high level. I think that’s what is for me most revealing.”
As for Fuller, he piled up a 100 yard receiving day by halftime alone. He’s been pretty unstoppable through the first three games this season. NCAA President Mark Emmert, NCAA Executive Vice President Mark Lewis, ACC Commissioner John Swofford, the 2015 NHL champion Chicago Blackhawks (with the Stanley Cup), and Arizona Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwell.
Of course, the production crew for the Showtime reality series chronicling Notre Dame football this season.
The Irish put on a very good show for the cameras (and all the heavy hitters who attended live in person too) as they controlled the tempo and the line of scrimmage, basically from start to finish.
There were also scouts from five different NFL teams in attendance. Georgia Tech Coach Paul Johnson was very impressed by what he saw out of C.J. Prosise today.
“I thought he ran the ball really hard,” Johnson said.
“His stats are going to be skewed because he had a 91-yard run. You got to give the kid credit. I thought he ran the ball well.”
