Northwestern wide receiver Tony Jones career high of 185 yards last week versus Syracuse is the most receiving yards in a game by a Wildcat since
Jeremy Ebert had 208 yards against Rice in 2011.
Pat Fitzgerald on the breakout performance of Tony Jones:
“Well, it’s back-to-back weeks that Tony has played at an elite level, an All-Big Ten level. We’ve got to continue to find creative ways to move him around and make people account for Tony. He’s a big time player.”
I asked QB1B Trevor Siemian (Kain Colter is QB1A) about WR Tony Jones.
“He’s obviously matured. He’s been around for a while,” Siemian said.
“The guy could do it all from the moment he stepped through the door. He’s maturing, he’s getting cleaner with his routes, he’s leading the younger guys. He’s pretty easy to throw to.”
Tony Jones is one of six players on the Northwestern roster named Jones, and one of three in the two-deep.
Look for both Colter and Siemian to find Jones early and often tonight versus Western Michigan. NU is a 31 point favorite.
