Cierre Wood, the featured back on last year’s Notre Dame team was cut from the Houston Texans. The Houston Chronicle that Wood was one of three Texans rookies (linebacker Willis Jefferson and defensive end Sam Montgomery) were the others dismissed from team due to an incident at the team hotel in Kansas City. In an unrelated story, another former Fighting Irish offensive star, QB Brady Quinn was also cut from his NFL team yesterday.
Cierre Wood was suspended his final year at Notre Dame, so he’s gotten into major trouble before.
And today we learn the reason why Cierre Wood and company were let– smoking marijuana at the team hotel. Three sources who wished to remain anonymous told ESPN.com that the violation occurred due to marijuana use.
Cierre Wood left Notre Dame a year early, but went undrafted. He was signed by Houston but did not play.
The party of dismissed players are claiming there weren’t smoking weed. Just cigars.
Jefferson’s agent claims they were not smoking pot.
“We’re discussing the possibility of filing a grievance. I need to be in touch with them and really figure if that’s the best route to take.”
