As the San Diego Chargers progress forward with an uncertain future, hopefully they make the right call and stay home. It would be a huge mistake for the Bolts to follow through on that Carson stadium share with the Oakland Raidders. That’s a more macro level San Diego Chargers question.
How about a more micro level San Diego Chargers question? What do they do at #17 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft?
Top two needs are DT and OT no doubt. In recent years, the Chargers have been all about rebuilding an aging defensive front seven. They have gotten younger in that regard, but they haven’t gotten better. Their options at nose tackle leave much to be desired and recent DL picks haven’t quite worked out. There are lots of prospects to consider, including Arik Armstead of Oregon who can play multiple DL positions. Then there’s Malclom Brown of Texas, who will be a sure fire first rounder.
ESPN NFL Draft expert Todd McShay discusses what the San Diego Chargers might do with the seventh overall pick:
McShay delved into what the San Diego Chargers could do when it comes to rejuvenating and replenishing that diminishing defensive line. We know Danny Shelton of Washington will be gone for certain by #17. What kind of depth is available in this draft class at the five technique? What about Eddie Goldman of Florida State? That’s a DT that McShay seems to be very high on; as he brought him up numerous times on this media conference call.
