The 2014 NFL season cannot get here fast enough for me or any other NFL fan for that matter. The draft is almost here and that is outstanding. I cannot wait for it either, but it is just a stepping stone that will get us football junkies closer to the pigskin needle that is the regular season. The NFL released the 2014 regular season schedule just a few days ago and there are some great match ups each and every week obviously. Let’s have a look at a few to wet our chops.
Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos, Sept. 7, 8:30 p.m. – Everyone wants to see how Denver will bounce back from the lashing they underwent at the hands of Seattle in the Super Bowl. The defense of the Broncos is rewired with free agent talent and Manning will be Manning, I am sure. Andrew Luck and the Colts won last time these two teams went head to head. This should be a great game and will be hyped as the QB king versus the king slayer, and rightly so.
San Francisco at Denver, October 19, 8:30 PM – San Francisco has had one of the best teams in pro football for three straight years, but has yet to win a Super Bowl. Denver is in the same boat for the past two years. This game could be a preview of the 2014 Super Bowl, if both teams keep on the winning path. Pretty soon the window will close for one or both of these teams. They had better win while they have the chance.
Denver at Seattle, Sept. 21, 4:25 PM – Do you see a common orange theme! This game may tell us a lot about how the Broncos are dealing with the shellacking they got from the Seahawks last year. Another whipping and Denver will lose all the confidence they once had. Seattle loses, and they can feel like it was just a regular season game. Big difference in perspective here in this game.
Atlanta at Green Bay, Dec 08, 8:30 PM – Atlanta could be bouncing back from a dismal 2013 season at this point in the NFL schedule. If so, it could be due to a weak schedule, which they have because of last year’s debacle. But a game against the Pack will let us know if the Falcons have recovered from their year long beating of last year.
Seahawks at Philly, Dec 07, 4:25 PM – Was Nick Foles’ dynamic performance an aberration last year? By this point in the 2014 season we may already know the answer. If not, Seattle will weigh in with their vaunted defense. All the Chip Kelly genius in the world may not overcome a nasty Seahawks defense.
Colts at Texans, Oct 09, 8:25 PM – This week six game will give us a barometer on how the Texans are doing since the 2013 tank job they pulled. They are a solid team that just went to hades last year. Their top draft pick could make or break them this year. The Colts do not lay down for anyone, so they are never a team to take lightly. Andrew Luck is just going to get better and better, so teams better get past him now before he really figures this league out.
