The return of Jordy Nelson, much hyped quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the slimmed down Eddie Lacy have made the Green Bay Packers the unanimous favorites to win the NFC North; and Super Bowl betting odds suggest that.
The Green Bay Packers feel the urgency to win the Super Bowl; since they haven’t done so since 2010. In 2016, the Packers are feeling the pressure to win it all mounting.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said that there is a little whoa about winning the Super Bowl. He also added that with Aaron being in the prime of his career, it is time they win another championship.
McCarthy added that what the Packers have done is go back to the basics, even though that sounds more than a bit cliché’.
Last season, McCarthy stepped out of the offense and the unit then evolved. Later, he stepped back in and thought why’d we change this?’ He added that the Packers were not running as much as he thought they should be early on in the season and that he’s a strong believer that when you run the football and stop the run, your passing game will evolve. He also believes that with the Packers precision timing passing game, they have the ability to defeat any defensive scheme. These tactics are some of the basics that the Packers are getting back to this year.
In his last 12 games of 2015, Aaron Rodgers only threw for 300+ yards twice, and a passer rating of 100 just once. This was a big drop off compared to the production levels we’re used to seeing from him.
Aaron Rodgers admitted that there were some external factors that contributing to the decline that he could not control. In 2016, Rodgers feels the pressure to not only lead the Packers to a Super Bowl win, but also to have a comeback individual season. The Packers have what it takes to win, but they’ll need to play their A game in order to hold off NFC powerhouses such as the Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals in order to reach the Super Bowl.
